Mod suggestions for new player

So I just picked up Fallout NV Ultimate Edition and haven't played yet. I hoping to get some mod suggestions to spruce the graphics up before I get into it. I don't want anything that changes game play, I want to play the vanilla experience just with better graphics and performance improvements.

 

I know there is usually a community bug fix patch for Bethesda games but I don't see one on Nexus, is there one? I also see a few crash fix mods, do I need any of those? Is there a script extender for this game?

 

So far I'm thinking of probably installiing..

Weapon retexture project

Character Overhaul

Wasteland Clothing HiRez

 

Maybe a light weight ENB. I'm not sure about UI mods, I guess it will depend on what I think of the default UI.

 

Anything else essential you think I should get, feel free to share.

BTW, do I have to clean the esm files or anything before modding?

I suggest you start with the wiki article "FNV General Mod Use Advice" to get a stable game setup before charging into graphic enhancements. This is an older game and the Gamebryo engine limitations will negate a lot of your hardware advantages. That article also provides links to others that include more mod recommendations.

 

"Pretty" does not beat "playable".

Get New Vegas Anti-Crash. It has nothing to do with graphics, but it will make your overall game experience MUCH better.

 

It requires NVSE to be installed. NVSE is the script extender for this game.
