I like Fallout Shelter but hate Fallout 4?

Yeah, you can, but it's not a good idea to do it.

If I wanted to build a settlement myself I'd learn the CK. But I don't want to build a settlement. I want the settlement to build itself provided I've given it all the right materials.

I'd have killed for the ability to export/import my settlements to new games. Sure it could potentially ruin balance. But if I spend 4-5 hours creating a great looking city, I don't want to lose it because I started a new game.

Also, the settlements in fallout 4 have about as much soul as your average politician. Sure, I can create this beautiful piece of art. But if the only thing populating it are mindless drones, whats the point? I'd rather have holograms or a full robot city at that point. At least then there is a reason why the population isn't as lively as the city.

You can port your settlements to new games though. Haven't done it yet myself, but there are cell ripper tools to accomplish that.

Yeah heard about cell ripper. However, it's still in beta from what I recall, and occasionally still has some issues.

I think the best possible alternative would be for folks to add pre-fab houses in settlement kit. Think of all the wonderful skyrim houses, and if you could just plop them down wherever you want. *sighs* But that is probably another pie in the sky dream of mine.

If it helps mine too.

There are SO many Skyrim mods I wish were imported to Fallout 4. Not just the assets, but thin gs like better horses, animalia, all the real animals, hell I'd like Giants and Giant camps in Fallout 4 just because f*#@ yeah

Combine these mods and you have some pretty great prefab stuff to work with:

My main issue with the settlements is that there's just so many and it clearly went at the expense of settlements that are part of the game. Nobody needs or even knows what to do with 30 settlements. There should have been like one for each faction and about two sandbox ones for creative use like Spectacle Island and Sanctuary. All the other locations should have been pre-existing settlements that you have no control over. Small towns like Bunker Hill. That's actually a mod I'd like to see. One that just removes most settlements entirely and replaces them with premade towns and such that you can explore, maybe even throw in a couple quests.

Neat didn't know about some of those mods. With the number of settlements, I am hoping someone revamps them with nuka worlds features. Taking over pre-built settlements for the vast majority rather then building everything yourself sounds like fun

Ideally, rebuilding the Minutemen would have involved recruiting actual existing settlements that then offer some sort of bonus to your faction, like Bunker Hill generating bottlecaps because of the trade caravans and farms generating food that increases the amount of minutemen patrolling the Commonwealth. Now you just recruit empty plots of land that you're expected to build up yourself or a house with a single family in it.

As for the mods, I especially recommend Vanilla Extensions. The pictures don't do it justice at all. I had it bookmarked for months and held off because the stuff in the images looks pretty boring but finally installed it this week and I'm so hyped now to use all the prefabs.
