ZER0777
So i am wondering wether or not Skyrim modders are going to make more provinces. I saw the thread disscussing how a moder plans to create cyrodill but are there other modders innterested in making the other provinces? I played oblivion quite a lot (around 3000 hours or something like that) and I know most of the basics of Oblion modding. So in my game i used the Elsweyr desserts of Anequina and Valenwood improved patched together. I really loved the 2 mods and how they fitt together and almost doubled the size of my map. Unfortunately though neither of the mods were finnished since only one person that i know of worked on them. So i was thinking that if modders were planning on making new provinces why don't they form teams to work on each province they are creating? I think that if we want theses provinces finnished and worth downloading and playing that we will need teams of modders instead of lone modders who are forced to lose thier social life to make all of us happy. So i think a team of about 20 modders could easily make a province that would be worthy of hours of play and a spot on the top 25 list. And with all of those modders working together they could cover eachothers weaknesses and use eachothers strengths. For example i am rather good at thinking of and creating pretty cool looking areas but i can not make models or textures so i am stuck with the defualt materials. so if i was working with a team i could just ask another modder on the team who was good and making model to make a model to fit what i needed, or if there was a mooder on my team who was having trouble designing a city or something, he could ask me and i could give him an ida of how to make his are look good and be functional. So iff you are a modder who is intterested in trying to make a new province you should post a comment here that includes: Which province you would like to work onYour modding strengthsYour modding weaknessWhat you enjoy to do while making mods (So people are not stuck speanding hours making npcs if they despise npc creation)How much time you can spend working on the modyour previous modding experiencesand some stuff about youreself that people should know before they would work with you Hopefully this will help modding teams form ans flourish so we can all visit our favorite provinces or if we are extremely lucky be able to roam all of tamriel. Good luck and i hope this helps with future mods.
RonKemp
The prob with things like that is the amount of time and dedication you need. You would need a team to get it finished in a good amount of time and the team isnt getting payed to do it so theres not much incentive to keep at it. So one guy ends up trying to do it all and it never gets dun or they come out with a new game and then theres no point finishing. a lot of good Morrowind mods died that way. Veltoss
I think there are about three or four, but how much progress they're making and whether or not they're actually going to get anywhere is another question. I would assume, even with a reasonable sized team, it would still take close to a year to get even one province in a beta phase, let alone with semi-detailed towns, dungeons, NPCs, etc. Getting it to a point where it is fully detailed, spawned, and has quests would take countless development hours. A still interesting and more reasonable idea would be to simply detail the exteriors of cyrodiil and morrowind without dungeons, towns, villages, or cities, so that players could at least explore them and hunt wildlife and maybe other native monsters as if they were playing in a time before civilization took over.
