Rethinking my choice for destruction. Perhaps illusion or alteration?

Maybe I am just doing things the hard way. I usually use a bow to snipe first and then switch to destruction. But before I invest a bunch of points into destruction, should I be considering illusion or alteration? Does anyone use these other schools of magic and how does it go?

Well I am a mage and warrior so I have invested into all schools (they are 100), but the most effective amungst them for combat are destruction obviously, and illusion. Illusion is goo because you can use spell that make people mad and attack eachother (making things easier), or you can make them friendly for a short peried of time, (giving you time to escape).

And when it is 100 you get massive versions of these spell, so if you are in a tight spot with like 20 enemies coming towards you, you can use a spell to make them all hostile to eachother, whilst you finish them off!

i dont like destruction much in skyrim alteration has some defense spells and passive buffs in perks plus paralyze illusion has invis muffle and calm/frenzy ^^ while conjuration had nice distractions to keep monsters off you while you ping them with your bow. so for your archer conjuration is a huge plus(extremely useful on master difficulty)illusion and alteration you'd find helpful but a lil tedious since you'd have to switch your weapon in and out a bit to fully use them. but all matters on play style but there is hardly any point to have destruction and archery seeing as archery is the stronger of the two(unmoded of course)

I've found conjuration works well with destruction, you can spawn something to take the hits while you stand back and hurl stuff at enemies.
