SaturnFX
Heya.Well, I wanted to simply put in a request for a mod that tweaks and changes stuff around the world to fit more in a D&D or Tolken style world. Elves: Please reduce them by 1/3rd. they are shorter than humans...not super short, but around 5'10 would be considered tall...of course a wood elf is a bit shorter than a high elf.Dark elves: Make them darker...black skin, white hair is typically the call Elves in general: My god, make them less monsterous. All elven races are supposed to be stunning to look at, not klingons Dwarves: Down the line...certainly not initially, toss in some gimli's in some deep underground fortress...due to the dwemer being a lost race, we can say these are gnome hybrids or something, Halflings: Yep wee folk...hobbits don'tcha know (little village of them far to the (name a direction) would be quite fun to discover Fairys/Pixies (neutral to neutral or good players..very rare to find) I could go on and on of course, the project is either a tiny tweak, or an epic overhaul, however you would want Not asking for anything impractical, just would rather have one big mod than 300 tiny mods to sort it out. xXJoshXx
I completely agree with you about the elves they, in my opinion, look horrendous in Skyrim. I want my elves to look like this: http://www.teralevelingguide.com/wp-content/gallery/characters/HighElf_1.jpg Or This http://www.cuded.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/20101115_card_image___high_elf_ver__1_0_by_reaper78.jpg NOT THIS: http://www.subjectivemonkey.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/high-elf-150x150.png
Terralventhe
..Actually, Skyrim's elves look way more like elves than the bizarre supermodel stereotype that's mysteriously made its way into the mainstream today. Elves are meant to look angular and ever so slightly gaunt due to their thin features. They're not supposed to look like hot humans with pointy ears. But I guess that's why you're callin' it 'non-lore friendly', after all, since 'pretty pointy-eared human' doesn't really fit into any lore around elves that I've ever heard of. Well, save for anime elves, but in anime, everything looks the same, with pointy ears or horns, and is always super pretty. Even Tolkien's elves aren't meant to look like humans. They're described, again, as thin and angular, but 'fair'. Which means that they have their own unique natural beauty about them, rather than a superficial, human-centric notion of beauty. There's a reason why many humans look at elves in a fearful or distrusting light; they don't look like them. They look foreign and strange to the unfamiliar human. Hell, I cheered when I saw Skyrim's elves, because it was finally an example of elves not being friggin' anime supermodels with ears like antennae. SaturnFX
..Actually, Skyrim's elves look way more like elves than the bizarre supermodel stereotype that's mysteriously made its way into the mainstream today. No, Tolkien wrote about elves back in 1910, taking from the old Scandinavian lore about elves and fairys. Some attributes of elves: Tall, strong, graceful, beautiful, leaf-shaped pointed ears Now, there is some debate over their height..Tall is perspective and legend also states they are actually short. Elves have 3 life cycles (according to Tolkien). young, middle age, and old. in the old life cycle, they can in fact grow facial hair. before that, nope..clean shaven. They get to maturity at age 50They are immortal (so then, what is considered old to an immortal...hmm...) There are really only two types of elves...light and dark, however, of course there are different "sects" within both...from the woods type that would rather sleep in a tree, to the more grand city of elves type of personality...but all elves share a deep connection with nature (part of their fae blood). They are typically very wise, enjoy being happy, a bit meloncholy, etc..all the stuff from extended years watching man come and go. Elven lore is actually very well established and has been for 100+ years in identification...its TES that is redefining them into klingons, which...as a purist, I don't like. D&D ripped off Tolkien, and everyone ripped off one of them..I don't mind that, but at least keep it as it should be. Now, I am not asking for TES to do a more traditional elf...I am asking for a modification and if people like the new ugly klingon elves, go for it..don't use the mod. The "cute elves" from oblivion mods was very close to what an elf theoretically should look like...shortish (about 5'6) high cheekbones...pointy ears (not silly big, just pointed), and damn good. But this is just the elves. Why are the Orcs friendly?Recommendation: change the orc title/race to half orc and pretty them up a bit...then create a new mob called wild orc..traditional angry bandit style evilness that dwells in rocky crags, caves, and swampy areas that none other would want to live. etc...again, as the title suggests, make it D&D/Tolkien lore moreso than TES's attempt to redefine a very well established over 100 year understanding of this type of setting...not a offical game direction rant, just a desire to change the game into my ideal (and many, many others in a tried and loved genre)

Hermoor
You people know nothing, as a native scandinavian I can tell you what the ORIGINAL elves looked like. See below: The elves or älvor as they are called by the native people. Are fair white dressed women who appears on open fields when there is fog. They dance in circles and sing songs to lure people into the fog never to return. Ävla is the singular form of älvor, and if one would translate it it would mean river. They are tall blonde women very beautiful but very dangerous. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/97/%C3%84ngs%C3%A4lvor_-_Nils_Blomm%C3%A9r_1850.jpgThey appear when there is fog like below:http://atomsforpeace.blogg.se/images/dimma_1170235090.jpgThese are the original elves that Tolkien copied more or less. Skyrim's elves and Tolkien's elves are way off if you look at the original elves. Although not a native Scandinavian, I am British of Celtic/Norse heritage and can identify with that kind of view. In most British myths, elves were also portrayed as tall. It was pixies, knockers and boggarts that were small. Tolkien (not Tolken) never EVER wrote that elves have pointy ears.Leave Tolkien out of this. Truth, I never read that in LOTR/Hobbit/Silmarillion either. SaturnFX
Tolkien (not Tolken) never EVER wrote that elves have pointy ears.Leave Tolkien out of this. "I am afraid, if you will need drawings of hobbits in various attitudes, I must leave it in the hands of someone who can draw. ... I picture a fairly human figure ... fattish in the stomach, shortish in the leg. A round, jovial face; ears only slightly pointed and 'elvish'; hair short and curling (brown)."JRRT - Letters #27, writing to Houghton Mifflin circa March-April 1938 Thanks google and 3 seconds.Tolkien envisioned pointy ears as envisioned in this letter about hobbits determining the hobbit look. it was simply taken for granted they have pointy leaflike ears, like in the name legolas as noted:"The first root is found in 'Legolas - Greenleaf' while the second appears in 'Amon Lhaw - hill of hearing'. As such the dual meaning of 'las' as both 'ear' and 'leaf' apparently due to the similar shapes of the two things is carried over into The Lord of the Rings." I suppose we can then reflect on who may have been Tolkien's literary guides. Ole Shakespeare more than likely gave him influence"The influence of Shakespeare and Michael Drayton made the use of elf and fairy for very small beings the norm. In Victorian literature, elves usually appeared in illustrations as tiny men and women with pointed ears and stocking caps. An example is Andrew Lang's fairy tale Princess Nobody (1884)" Face it, they have pointy ears...but what a small and inconsequencial matter to get stuck on. really? we want to debate on ears? -sigh-
