PCGamingMods2016
It's been years since I've done this kind of work, but I'm starting to pick up on the Nexus modding again with most of the Bethesda titles. I've been a huge fan to most of the Bethesda role-playing games. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is what began my journey into the Bethesda role-playing games. YouTube is what started my interest into modding games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and other excellent titles. I missed doing this kind of work and the mmo games can get boring for a long period of time. So I started to create video and image content based on the Nexus mods for most Bethesda game titles. I'm creating content on YouTube, Instagram and on here of course. But I noticed a problem. After 7 videos and posting many photos on Instagram I'm not drawing any traffic. What am I doing wrong in my photos and videos? I know I'm not perfect at what I do, but IMO I'm good enough at what I do and should be drawing a decent size audience by now. Is there a chance someone can take a look at my work and tell me what I'm doing wrong so I can get better at this? By the way, my videos are no commentary only. I do not use a microphone and refuse to add commentary to my videos. I want to keep my video content strictly as video galleries for weapon mods, armor mods and other excellent Nexus mods. If you want to take a look at my pages I have them linked below. I love and enjoy what I do, but if this is not going to get me anywhere, I'm going to lose motivation to continue doing this kind of work. I don't want to stop doing what I'm doing because I love what I do with the video editing and image work I produce! Nice to meet everyone in the community and let me know what you think. I don't think I'm asking for too much. But if I'm doing something wrong in all of my content, please tell me!
DoctorKaizeld
1) youtube filtering. So the thing about youtube is that the filters it has are setup to show videos that het the most seconds watched. Meaning the longer people watch your videos the more visible you become. Also your videos are only visible to people in your country unless someone specifically searches for you. This is a large part of why Pewdiepie has so many followers. 2) no commentary. Most viewers dont want to sit and watch videos that dont have commentary. 3) 7 videos. You need more then seven videos uploaded to draw people in or to know if people are watching. You are competing with mxr and several other youtubers who show off mods that include commentary. 4) probably not getting permission. You should ask the modders for their permission to show off their mod. This is entirely for the sake of being polite you dont have to but if a modder knew theyd prodadly put the link on their mod page which can increase views. I'd rather do without the whole commentary stuff. I know who MXR is and after just watching only a couple of his videos, he's pretty good at what he does. I'd rather do the whole texting thing similar to what WildPie does in his Dark Souls dumb s**ts guide videos, but without all the comedy stuff. I'll have to admit. I did not ask for permission to display the mods from the authors, but what I definitely do is give them credit in the descriptions of every single video I produce. This includes adding the link to the specific mod with the author who created the mod. Of course I give the creators credit in every video I produce and upload to YouTube whatever type of mods I display in my content. I don't claim the mods to be my own, which is something I never do. Thank you for the feedback. If anyone else wants to include any other details, let me know.
DoctorKaizeld
No the permission thing is more so that they are aware of you making the video. This will increase your views if they decide to add it to their mods page. If you are reviewing a mod you dont need permission but for courtesy reasons you should ask. JimboUK
Your spamming of the imageshares is just getting you blocked or ignored, look at the average views and endorsements of other people's images and then look at yours, you can see I'm right. I've been here a long time and I've seen it time and again, people flood the place to get attention and the opposite happens, if you want to get noticed then join in with the social side of things, had you embedded nine images under one rather than dump ten multiple times you'd have got more endorsements and probably a couple of welcome messages, at least on the New Vegas site, as is you're pissing off the people whose work you've buried and those want to look at it. As for videos FO3, New Vegas and Oblivion aren't going to get many views, those games are dead to most people, Fallout 4 and Skyrim are better but there's a lot of other people uploading videos so you need to stand out and that means doing something different or well, it's very hard to build up a channel now, the days of easy views are long gone. I have about 170 videos and like you I'm not interested in commentary, over the years I've seen view counts drop to next to nothing because people want personalities, these days anyone can record and quickly edit game footage, you need more than just that. A 2006 video I upped just showing a bar in Morrowind got 146,000 views, a 2009 FO3 video showing off a crappy character I'd made got 192,000, fast forward to today and I'd be lucky to get 1,000 on something similar.
