trepmaws
This is kinda old but I will share my "experience" with infinite loading,When the engine has to load many stuff (from a city cell or any cell in Tamriel ,outside I mean an exterior cell) most of the times it get stuck. For me the solution was to delete these lines that I had added sometime ago from my skyrim.ini file at map subsection. uLockedObjectMapLOD=8uLockedTerrainLOD=16 From that moment no more loading issues and much quicker waiting to finish. This fixed my problem perfectly, which is really strange, considering that I've used those settings for so long. Thank you!
BuiltIIridE
I really think it is just a memory problem, too many mods etc.
BirgitteSilverbow
I'm having the same problem, but I have nothing on maps in my skyrim.ini file. I get the perpetual loading screen of death at random times when loading in during quick travel, going through loading doors, or sometimes when entering the game. I have used tes5 edit on my mods, following all the directions explicitly, I am using ATTK, Game Booster, Nvidia inspector tweaked for skyrim, and Fraps. This is extremely frustrating to me because I just upgraded my system with ASRock FM2A75Pro4 motherboard with AMD A10 processor 3800 ghz 4200 OC. I have 16 GB of 2400 speed DDR3 ram. My video card is Nvidea Geforce GTX650ti with 2GB memory SSC. The slowest item is my 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD. There should be NO ISSUES playing a destop game that doesn't even connect to the internet. Are you seriously telling me that I need to buy a 10k HDD or go solid state to play this game? I'm running Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Please help me!!! Raistlindantilus
I seem to get the infinite load screen when leaving the winking skeever in Solitude. There is nothing in my Skyrim.ini out of the ordinary. For reference: [Display]sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260"fNearDistance=25.0000fDefault1stPersonFOV=90fDefaultFOV=90fFlickeringLightDistance=4096000.0fSpecularLODStartFade=10000000.0000fSpecularLODMaxStartFade=12000000.0fLightLODStartFade=20000000.0000fLightLODMaxStartFade=25000000.0[Grass]b30GrassVS=1[Water]bReflectLODObjects=1bReflectLODLand=1bReflectSky=1bReflectLODTrees=1[General]sLanguage=ENGLISH[Actor]fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist=10000.0000 Thats my Skyrim.ini. Raistlindantilus
Nevermind I have fixed it. Just in case this helps anyone else. Symptom: Infinite load screens leaving Winking Skeever in Solitude and one other location (I forgot where, sorry.) The offending lines were in SkyrimPrefs.ini Original values were [TerrainManager]fTreeLoadDistance=750000.0000fBlockMaximumDistance=500000.0000fBlockLevel1Distance=1400000.0000fBlockLevel0Distance=70000.0000fSplitDistanceMult=4.0000bShowLODInEditor=0 I had created them to combat Z-Fighting in distant LOD. New values that work are [TerrainManager]fTreeLoadDistance=75000.0000fBlockMaximumDistance=50000.0000fBlockLevel1Distance=140000.0000fBlockLevel0Distance=7000.0000fSplitDistanceMult=4.0000bShowLODInEditor=0 I removed one digit from the longer values. Also confirmed I did not see any Z-Fighting outside of Solitude. Yay! I can use the Winking Skeever now! txjohns
Wow! spanian77's method actually worked for me! Delete these two things from Skyrim.ini uLockedObjectMapLOD=8uLockedTerrainLOD=16 The values were different for me, but I was able to easily load two areas that had been giving me trouble once they were gone. Of course, I don't know if this is a temporary fix or what, since I jumped on here to post my results the second it worked. :o)
kkl4261
I have the actual same problem. I have infinte loading screen entering Whiterun or Dragonsreach. But I don't have any map section in Skyrim ini. My save is like 13,000 KB. It did sucessfully loaded a few time entering Whiterun but I still can't get in Dragonsreach. zaktell
I had the same problem and I found the solution for me. I use a dozen of mods and skse. What I did was to delete the Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files from \My Games\Skyrim folder. Then I started the game from the launcher and let the game chose the settings and automaticly create the .ini files. And that was it! No more infinite loading screens and crash to desktop. So I suppose that some of my mods did something to these .ini files, because I personally did not.

I was able to leave the winking skeever, but only once. When I returned, the same problem happened again as I tried to leave for the second time. This issue really does appear to be linked to the terrain manager adjustments regarding z-fighting tweaks. http://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=3266 This posting solved my problem. At least, everything works so far.
