Complete HighRes Retexture Project

I haven't seen any works from the other authors (except some misc improvements from Isoku, all of which I have installed) but if Chris2012 is working on this then I can't wait to see what it will turn out like. His Whiterun texture pack is the best Skyrim texture pack currently in existence.

Well, Chris2012 does the texture pack for only Whiterun that`s all, not rocks not landscapes not even other cities but only Whiterun... That`s not even %2 of the whole game.

I was so happy about Nebula`s "skyrim Hd 2k texture" pack because that was a big one, but it is deleted in skyrimnexus and died...

Who is there left?

Unfortunately, we won`t be able to see decent textures in Skyrim till 1 year later or something I think.

Personally, I didn't think the “Skyrim HD 2k texture” pack was good, it was nowhere near the quality of Chris2012's work - he changed way too much and broke the art style completely.

I also think that it's better to have 100 texture mods for individual sections of the world than 1 texture mod which affects everything. For example, this way, I can pick the plant mod which I think looks best, the water mod which I like the most, the rock/terrain mod which looks the most natural and avoid changing the snow texture altogether (because all current snow mods look like s***).

If you lump in too many together, it's hard to pick out the ones that look good (ie. identical to the vanilla but higher resolution) and avoid the ones that look bad (different design or tint).

I disagree. How about tons of compatibility issues you face with that way? I hate to download 1000 diferent packages and try to install them and then face tons of oddities/bugs/crashes/incompatibility...etc

I hope someone does a texture pack for Skyrim like Oblivion`s "qarl`s texture pack"

Texture packs don't cause bugs or crashes or incompatibilities, especially not when done under the same direction (but exposed as modular components), possibly by different authors (so I could, say, use one author's textures but not another's, depending on how I like them).

While I agree with your concerns when it comes to general gameplay changes, for textures I do not believe this to be an issue.

I agree somewhat. I would prefer a per sectional sort of DL myself. And from there even further split, like a version geared for performance and not hog. My system is good, but it ain't uncompressed 2048 normal map good... There is improvement room on a bit of a scale imo

I'm probably going to be a sporadic contributer. So all my work tends to be sitting only in my data folder. Which means while I would try rather hard with anything I attempted, I wouldn't be spending the ridiculous amount of time it would take me to do any sort of complete set of anything.

This is a really great idea. In particular, Ghogiel, you are a sleeping tiger mate. I've seen your eye work. I had to merge it with Xenius' HD texture mod. Once you complete your eye mod, it's probably the only one I'll ever use.

Thanks to all modders who spend their valuable time making the PC gaming experience more worthwhile.
