MOD Idea: Some love for the Atom Cats , Please !

During my first play-through of F04, one of the small groups I most enjoyed meeting was the Atom Cats. I wanted Rowdy as a Companion (still do), and once I became an Atom Cat, I wanted to have my own room to live the Cat Night Life when I needed to unwind after a tough day of flatlining Raiders and massacring Mutants. I kept thinking, someone will give the Atom Cats some love once the CK is out.

The Ck has been out now for a couple of months and still NO LOVE for the ATOM CATS !! )other than a radio station mod and a re-tex of their jacket logo)

Lots to work with. A cool group of NPC's, An area near the shore that's already on the edge of coolsville, with room to expand a bit. To be honest I thought Elianora would have jumped at working on a housing mod for this one (Cats ! cats? get it); but so far it hasn't happened. So please...Talented Mod Authors, give the Atom Cats some consideration Jack.

Hmm I think there was a mod that turns their garage into a settlement at least. But anyway I fully agree.

At the very least, there should be the atom cats paintjob for all power armor types (with the exception of raider), or at least the X01.

Special cosmetic or not power armor modifications would be nice, too. Like, some chrome parts which reflect some energy damage.

Quests, too, of course. The X01 paintjob might be a quest reward on itself, like, bring us one full suit of X01, and you'll get the paintjob schematics. Not sure what other quests could be, though. Fixing tech of some "squares" or randomly cleaning out raider camps will get boring quite soon, I guess.

Oh! I got it:

Quest 1: help <atom cat member> to get into <location>, in order to salvage an old radio transmitter. The NPC is a temporary follower and wears a full suit of indestructible power armor, like Danse

Quest 2: build the radio tower in the garage (you should have workshop access now)

Quest 3+: collect some music holotapes in certain locations

After this is done, Atom Cats Radio unlocks, playing some "coolcat" music for you

I'd love to see the Atom Cats hangout get a revamp/expansion too. I have wished that Rowdy had a more diverse set of dialogue which would make her a better candidate as a follower, but I would take what I can get *lol* I'd gladly take her to find an old transmitter. If wishes were gumdrops, I'd have a recording studio added to the Atom Cats home... a place where they could produce some cool recordings of poetry and some swinging rockabilly sounds. Sort of an old 50's style Malt Shop decor, with a stage for the performers and a side area for the recording. I bet all the gear for it could be found in the assets of the Hubris Comics /Silver Shroud top floor recording studio. A white and black checkered dancefloor shouldn't be hard to find. I think the secret room above diamond city has one. Add some colored lights, a few leather jackets and posters on the walls and the mood is set. .......... for cool.

Rowdy is voiced by Ashly Burch <3

I have to admit, in the world of many things that people can claim that Bethesda doesn't do quite as good a job as they can, Voice Actors is not one of them. I am always pleasantly surprised by the talents and variety of voices they find to go with their characters. I knew that Ms. Burch did the voice of Rowdy, but I was doubly surprised that she is also the voice of that mayhem-driven arms dealer Cricket ! The character of Rowdy has a husky lilt, paired with that slight swingtown edge of a Northeastern twang accent that is very memorable. Ms. Burch is also a very busy voice actress, with I think, more than 2 dozen voice actress credits including about 5 projects due to come out this year. MY other personal fave voice of hers is from one of my other favorite fun video games....Borderlands 2, where the versatile Ms. Burch was the voice of Tiny Tina. With so many voices inside her head it might be very hard to get her to record any additional lines for Rowdy, but who knows........... Life is strange. (hehe -- yes that was a bump to one of Ms. Burchs new voices in another game)

But yeah, I know what you mean, with about 7-8 more lines of script , Rowdy would become much more viable as a Companion follower.

Maybe a few extra lines like:

Whatcha waiting for ..... Doomsday? That party is over and we got stuck with the cleanup.

When you travel with the Atom Cats, ya don't accept no substitutes for style.

So, where do we go from here sweetcheeks?

Usually I prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, but hey. What goes around comes around, am I right?

I don't say this often but, You lead and I follow.

Even when I was young and stupid, not that I'm old or anything, I gave this place a wide berth.

Hell yeah, Lets paint this town red!

So, is your dance card full .... or can I cut in ?

In my head I can sort of imagine Rowdy saying those things. She does have a past as a Raider so there is probably still a lot of savagery under that cool composed exterior. She obviously is a character that takes a great deal of pride in her work as evidenced by her statement of "checking up" on the Vault Dwellers work at the Warwick place. Probably the best "lines" for Rowdy would be whatever would pop into the voice actress head. She obviously primed her voice selection with some forethought. Both Rowdy's voice and Crickets are inspired and distinctive.

Personally, for a gang that is all about power armor, I'd expect them to have their own custom built set rather than just T-60s, some sleek designs maybe based off old Corvegas or other sports cars and so forth. Especially since Raiders have function (though admitably low-tech) Power Armor.

Yes, I agree completely. I also wish that if a Mod comes out that focuses on putting some vehicles back on the road...(like Motorcycles), that the origin point in the game would naturally be AT the Atom Cats workshop. I would also love to see my Mod Request for a ....*lol* Flying Car to see the light of day as well. It would be so great if a dialogue chain crops up about Zeke asking the Sole Survivor about "How was it, cruisin around in those sleek buggies back in the day?" Then the Sole Survivor would tell the whole Atom Cats group how great it was to be in a convertible, driving down the roads at speeds that Power Armor can't match." Then dialogue would be exchanged on how bad the roads are now so a wheeled buggy wouldn't do. Then Zeke could come up with the fantastic idea to make a Flying Car !!!

Yeah, I dream a lot....lol.
