Combine99
Synths are friendly to me for some reason, they just wander around me like "hey how ya doin' buddy". I'm with the Brotherhood of steel to so they should hate me after Arkjet but they simply refuse to attack me. It takes me killing one of them to get them to attack and then I've got to kill another one next time we meet and finally they attack me on sight but after arkjet shouldn't they normally attack on sight? EDIT - Here's another example of how my games broke: I confront Kellogg in Fort Hagen and finally its time for battle and Kellogg just stands there looking at me blankly like a box of cereal. So I decide to initiate the fight and shoot him in the face and of course he fights back like he should however his compadres who are programmed to be his bodyguards simple refuse to guard his body or what's left of it in this case. I seem to be a permanent ally of the institute somehow and cant even kill my way out of it. I even tried "removefromfaction" command and still all allies of the institute are allies of me. steve40
The Institute secretly replaced you with a synth :)
JimmyRJump
Just to remind you that Synths no longer attack you after you've talked to Father at the institute, even whe not having decided yet to join yes or no... But your problem seems to stem from something else entirely... Edited August 17, 2016 by JimmyRJump
Combine99
Never been to the institute. Although the weird thing is i have heard the synths say during a murder session something like "Cease attacking your fellow synth" or something like that. Is there a small chance your character ends up being a synth?!
Calzien
Is there a small chance your character ends up being a synth?!No, actually. But if you play Far Harbor there's a scene that plays which allows the player to make a choice that seems to hint at it. But by default, no not really. As for why they're friendly it's a bug of some sort. Are you using any mods that play around with the factions at all? Seems to me somehow you were placed in a faction that's either allied to the Institute or something else is going on. Sometimes the game does pull odd details. For example there's a pack of feral ghouls I ran into once that were friendly and I didn't even get the Ghoulish perk, however other feral ghouls will attack on sight. Similarly I've had raiders ignore me completely and act friendly (Well Marcy Long style of friendly.) until I left. It tends to vary.

Yep, had that a couple of times with the DeathClaw at the Old Gullet sink-hole just outside Greentop Nursery. Could walk right up to it and look deep into its beady eyes, bugger never attacked me... Combine99
It isn't a mod since I deactivated all my mods and synths still wouldn't attack. I really don't know what it is since if I kill around 10 synths they begin attacking on sight but will forget about it after a while. Here's an example: I was going through Fort Hagen and was getting attacked on sight after the first floor but when I went to fight Kellogg he wouldn't attack until I started it, and then his synths just stared at me until I attacked them. Its not a completely HUGE deal just a little annoying. I guess I'll just continue being a sadistic synth hating loon, well I am best friends with Danse anyways so it fits. JimmyRJump
Deactivating/uninstalling all your mods doesn't set the game back to its original state. That can only be achieved through a clean install...
Combine99
Ahh Ok I'll do that for my next playthrough, but I think I've found a way around the issue for now. The use of the console command "setenemy" plus 2 faction IDs and a 1 causes those two factions to become enemies. So I used: "setenemy 5e558 1c21c1 1" to make the synths enemies of the player faction. I may have to do this every session but it beats murdering helpless enemies... or does it. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! YOU AN ME DANSE!!! HWARHARHARHAR!!! Edited August 20, 2016 by Combine99
BenDynamic96
i found out the If you have the mod (Better Synth Relay Grenades) and some mods like it makes all synths friendly. It messes with the synth faction id.
