Tardivex
Some people are blatantly either unimaginative, impatient, or just dense. Most of the shouts are epic, and the ones that aren't have their uses in specific places: - Frost/Fire Breath/Damage shouts 1 shot weaker enemies and do moderate to weak damage on strong foes. It they killed these foes, then where would your challenge be? Even when a dragon does his breath attack, ever think how many times he needs to do it before he kills you or an npc like a guard?1 shot? Yeah right... Moderate to weak damage to strong foes? Heres a sort of visual representation, the 0's are a Dragurs Deathlord health, the - is his health taken:00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000-I do not them to die in one hit, so what about this:000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000------------------------------------------------------------------------------It would be better and you would actually feel that you've done some damage, and challenge? What the hell are you talking about? Theres no challenge in Skyrim, even on Master skyrim is easy as hell, maybe the AI should be tweaked a bit between dificulties rather than multiplaying damage and HP because the game continues to be easy. - Marked for Death: add a few layers of this shout and the enemy will die very quickly i.e. requires tiny bit of patience. Really useful for dragons that have spotted me before i could sneak attack them to death.A bit of patience? More like a crap ton of patience because it's like 1dps, and sneak attack a dragon? I really don't get how this works mate, your just making things up to try making a decent argument wich is in fact... NOT - Kyne's peace/fear/aninal allegiance shouts: situational/optional shouts, use them if you shouts. They have their uses in specific points. Ever had a spriggan matron come up to you with two cave bears under it's control? With a bit of patience and strategy you could nullify those cave bears with one shout, or even bring them under your control. Yeah, strategy! You can use the 1/1/1, you build your barracks first, then your factory, then your starport. Strategy on Skyrim -.- And yeah your totally right, the wildlife is SOOOO strong, I think anyone can let their characters AFK with 30 cave bears, 50 wolves, and 10 spriggan matrons attacking them on mastr difficulty for 2 hours and the character would still be alive, wildlife in skyrim is laughable on both strenght, and diversity, Bears and Cave Bears lol how creative...And also, don't lie to me, how often do you use shouts? Matth85
There is a middle way between useless and overpowered.Don't answer out of context. The idea was to make it as the lore says. In the lore shouts are overpowered, and it is what makes you such a legendary warrior. That is why that lore is a bad argument. The damage shouts are weak Shouts are more utility, than damage. Though I do agree some shouts need a slight damage buff. For instance, Unrelenting Force and Slow Time is a life saver. I will use Unrelenting Force to send a bandit flying off a mountain ( <3), and I will use Slow Time to run like a chicken or keep a dragon slowed for a few seconds.Secondly we got the sprint/Warp/blink kind of shout and the attack speed one. One makes travelling easier, and I can charge up to a mage before I get 2-shot. And with the attack speed bonus I can suddently rip apart anything.EVerything indiriectly buff my damagae and survivability, and costs me what: a cooldown? We also got the frost breath and life detect. One letting me CC a few enemies, so I got time to get the advantage, and the other let me know what I am dealing with. Together I got CC and the ability to strategize a fight before I engage. So you see, there is uses for the shouts. Not as pure damage shouts, neither as pure survivability shouts. They are helping you. Unrelenting Shout have given me tons of utilityl like: 4 bandits flying off a high mountain, Getting that damn NPC out of the doorway, Kicking back that dragon, holdig off that Giant so I can regain some stamina and it looks awesome. Cheers,Matth
Fdzzaigl
I find some shouts relatively underpowered, while others pack great utility. In general, the "damage" shouts (fire & ice breath) are pretty weak, I think they should at least do as much damage as comparable destuction skills and have a much shorter cooldown.I mean, these are supposed to be the shouts that dragons use, it'd be cool if your character could more or less match that when these shouts are maxed out.The storm shout could also use more damage and less friendly fire, but it should remain on a very long cooldown. The other ones all have their situational uses, though some could do with a shorter cooldown. Slow Time is currently the one I use most, it's very powerful, maybe even too much so. masamune30
yeah the shouts you get when you do psb are only one word shouts, they are at full power from the start, if your not able to unlock even the first level and you have a dragon soul then im not really sure what your doing wrong... Zazoom
I agree with you. I have found shouts rather frustrating in how impotent they are, and how long they take to recharge. It would be different if the cooldown time wasn't so ridiculous (just long enough to catch your breath for the next shout). The game implies that being a dragonborn is awesome because you have the powers of a dragon, but in the end they're just something you use as a last resort due to how pathetic they are. It's such a shame too since it's one of the most unique aspects of the game. The only shouts I have found useful are Life Aura and Dragonrend. The Thu'um should be a powerful and useful weapon to be mastered, not just some curiosity to be practically ignored.
kleinstaff
shouts are not underpoweredit is the way how to use tham that is importanta example isd the fus you first learn compared to the fukk fus roh dah it iseems useless but for a low level dragon born facing a bandit chief that is about to powerattack and kill you in one strike fus will disrupt his attack giving you the chance to strike first and evade his attacka fire breath might ot look that good on paper but against springans and draugr ooh lmy a slow time used in some situations can be a winner there many other examples you just need to find out yourself
George24
Stop saying the shouts are usless, i use every one of them besides the alegiance one. The real problem is that they ruined the game with the enchantig tree. And because of that they had to make the game harder so they added the option to change difficulty. Now, i for one wrecked things in iron armor and using skyforge steel blade at lvl 56 and nothing was chalenging not even on legendary difficulty. I mean i had 843 armor and 431 dmg, and some ppl are doing over 1 k dmg with higher gear and enchantments... So i started a new game on adept dificulty withought using enchanting or lvling smithing past steel. This way i can make good use of fire breath and other fun shoths that were usless on legendary dificulty.I always said enchanting is overpowerd and is ruining the game. What's the point in one shoting everything...U have no idea how rewarding it is to use the amulet of talos and talos blessing. And gues what: i find unique items USEFOUL AGAIN!!!! This game is so rewarding and fun withought enchanting. I use the items i find and are already enchanted.Believe me the game is more fun and chalenging withought the enchanting perk tree. Terra Nova
The damage shouts are underpowered. I edited fire to have a shorter cooldown and be strong. I did the same with Frost but also added the same ability to it that Ice Form has(which now made Ice Form useless). Throw Voice however, if you're a stealth player is the best shout in the game. Lord Garon
(What an epic necro.) Shout damage is relative. My squishy mages use a lot of shouts on Legendary; compared to the almost useless normal damage I can do, shouts are about equal. BUT... FRD, Ice Form, Ethereal, Slow Time, and Disarm are massively useful survival tools for my Archer-target-practice-dummy mages. Say what you want, but with Lydia down, my atronach a flaming mist, no magicka, and a pissed-off Deathlord taking a bead on me, shouts seem like a Gift from the Divines.
