I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in how... one-sided marriage

After just a few minutes of interacting with my new husband, I quickly noticed that pretty much the only things I could do with him were to ask for services. Everything about him was only to help what I want, what he could do for me.

But I want to do for him.

I want to give him gifts in a sentimental fashion as opposed to tricking him into taking things by getting him to follow me (I was lucky enough to choose a follower :D) and opening his inventory to put things in, only to have him put it up for sale.

I want to be able to cook for him or do something for him, as opposed to always asking him to do something for me.

But above all, the worst part is that I can't initiate dialogue with him and do anything but ask him to do something, make me something, or give me money. I would at least like an option that isn't based around what he can do to satiate my needs. Hell, I could ask him "how are you doing?" and then it would even have an outside use (being that I can't really tell how close he is to death when we're killing things. Did I mention his home is constantly invaded by dragons?)

Oh, also, on a side note, my husband continuously runs off in the middle of the night and in the day to go back to his old home where he was a miner, then promptly run back home to start the process again. It's very irritating, and now we live in a camp-y place next to a mine. Not fun. ._.

Buuut, yeah. I think it would add quite a bit of depth to the marriage system if I just had a few options that were based around him, rather than me. He's not my servant, he's my partner.

I strongly agree on all points. Marriage in Skyrim is one of the few things I found to be outrageously disappointing and shallow. What you said would help it a lot. I really hope Bethesda eventually patches in more things for marriage but knowing them I doubt it will ever happen. Edited by tharius1

Yeah, I know they won't, probably. Areas requiring dialogue are the suckiest for needing improvement, simply because of the fact that we can't give audio to pre-established characters without being very silly. :c
