AlexVestin
A few more screens. Textures near or around water changed a bit. All is a work in progress still. http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/2500/pic06s.jpghttp://img821.imageshack.us/img821/2525/pic07r.jpghttp://img402.imageshack.us/img402/6686/pic08n.jpghttp://img411.imageshack.us/img411/6315/pic09h.jpghttp://img543.imageshack.us/img543/1886/pic10e.jpg I still need help finding that one texture for the snow. Making it sand coloured would change a lot of the ingame atmosphere. After that I just need to somehow fix the snow particles. The Bluejay
It does look really good - somehow, the desert landscape and pine trees seem to work quite well!
Susurruss
It looks like Colovia, up north of Kvatch (with sand instead of grass).
AlexVestin
Could there possibly be some sort of text file that defies wich texture the snow-shader will use? Edited November 28, 2011 by AlexVestin
AlexVestin
I'm not sure if there's a way to change the snow texture now. Might need to wait for the modding tools. I can't find a texture for it, and I have no idea if there's text files somewhere that can be edited to change it's texture either.
wesside0yes
I know in Fallout, the usually used a colourless texture, either black and white combined or just plain black or white, and used the .NIF file coloursettings to choose which colour to display ingame. Mabye you should try and figure out what .NIFs are being used to display those gusts and tweak their colour settings to see if that does anything. AlexVestin
Sounds like it could be right. I've now found several ".nif" files with names being close to the things I'm trying to change. "snowmatshader.nif""fxambsnowblowingplane.nif""fxambsnowblowingfog01.nif""fxambsnowblowingsm.nif""fxcameraattachsnowfalling.nif""fxdragonlandingimpactsnow.nif"etc. There a few more similar. It's just that I have no idea on how to open and edit files inside the ".nif" files. Checked a few threads here, but since I've never done something like this for oblivion or any other eldern scrolls game, I still don't know where to begin. It's just that I have no idea on how to open and edit files inside the ".nif" files. Checked a few threads here, but since I've never done something like this for oblivion or any other eldern scrolls game, I still don't know where to begin. 1. You'll need a BSA unpacker to open the containing BSA file, but since you already observed the texture and NIF files I guess you already have that part covered. 2. Next you'll need Nifskope which you can find here: http:// http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope 3. Followed by the correct XML files to open the Skyrim files: http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/nifskope/1.1.0-rc1/nifskope-1.1.0-rc1-i686-w32.7z/download Just put the files in your Nifskope directory and let them replace older files.4. Now open up your desired NIF in nifskope5. Click on the part you want to alter the texture colours from in the right display window.6. Expand that part in the file tree on the left [+]7. If you see a colourpalet symbol you're in the right place, now click once (not double) on this colourpalet, if done correctly you'll see some information displayed in the "block details" in the below window.8. See what setting emissive multiplier is set to (For example 3) and Note it for you may need to change it later. Now change the emissive colour to the colour of your choice either by inputting the correct hash code for the colour or choicing one from the colour wheel.9. See if it is to your liking and save.10. Optional changing the specular colour to see if this makes a difference and adjust the emissive multiplier to something higher or lower, this determines the amount of glow if set higher. Hope this helps. For further help google "texturing with Nifskope". Edited November 30, 2011 by wesside0yes
AlexVestin
Following what you said, I've made some progress I think. But it's all "Vertex coloured". The model consists of several flat planes with a scrolling texture on it. To change the colour I have to change the colour of every single vertex in the middle of the model. All vertices at the edges of the model is black. All vertices at the center of the model is white. A few in between is a lighter gray. I guess it might have to do with the models translucency ingame? And it's colour too? I can't select a few vertices at a time, so I'm not sure if it's worth the time changing colour of it this way one by one. There's actually quite a lot of vertices.
