I enjoy the Dunmer returning to their rugged, threatening appearance from Morrowind. In Oblivion, they were just way too... friendly. Dunmer were meant to look threatening, borderline monstrous, that's the reason they got so much dislike.

Bosmer also additionally look more like what they should, they are rugged hunters in skyrim, not the skittish keebler elves of Oblivion.

The Altmer are odd though. I thought they were supposed to be the fair-skinned, most pleasant looking of the elves. Instead, they just look like tall, yellow Dunmer. But far less pleasant.

Orsimer, on the other hand, now look more Orcish, whereas they were just kind of dumb looking in Oblivion. Now they look beastly, and monsterous, as orcs should. OrsiMER = elves btw, in case there are those who don't already know that.

Exactly. Anyway not all Elves are "light-class". My character for instance is built both for recon and full frontal assault.

At level 30 I have a fully-built archer (i.e 15% chance of 25% critical damage hit, Ability to move while having bow loaded and arched, 4/5 80%+ damage) and one-handed dual-axe combat system. (i.e.@72 one-handed points -- 4/5 80% damage bonus, 25% faster and 50%+ damage on dual-weilding apps. + 2/3 Axe continuos bleeding bonus)

With 80% stronger enchantment, 25%+ bonus on all Fire, Frost, Shock damage with the ability to blacksmith enchanted weapons for dmg. multipliers which include all "grand" enchanted weapons and armor (i.e. 35%+ one-handed weapons, 35%+ archer damage X 2, 35+300 healthpoints, 33+ heavy armor points)

And 60%+ Heavy armor resistance and @ 250 stamina.. Moreover, I am in the process of getting all the sneaking damage bonuses and I am just level 30.

When I think of Elder Scrolls and I think of elves, I automatically think of the modded elves. They are always so beautiful. So basically that's become my perception of what an elf looks like.

The vanilla ones look like they're made out of play dough or clay. The modded ones will be much better. That's if they don't already have the mods for them. :D

I think the females look too masculine!

I have no problems with androgynous looking characters, I play an orc female myself, and they aren't exactly barbie dolls.

But I dislike the look of pretty much every female elf I've seen, as they all look too masculine, or are just straight out ugly really. I tried to make a dark elf myself, but after playing around with the customizing options for 30 minutes I still weren't happy with how she looked. I'd say the cheekbones are the greatest problem, as most elves have very emphazied cheek bones and very long and slim faces.

Females generally have a bit more rounded faces, with less sharp edged cheek bones. It's one of the things that are considered feminine looking, I guess.

But the elves with the masculine facial shapes just doesn't look that good to me. It's possible to make a feminine characters that still look somewhat cynical/proud/vicious as I assume is what they aim for in Skyrim. It's even possible to make a feminine character with a slim face and a cynical/proud/vicious attitude. But I can't say they nailed it in Skyrim,

I think the males looks pretty good though, I've seen a few that I really liked, and I find the rest to look okay.

I made this one with more rugged feats, instead of the traditional elongated-slimmer face. Like I said, this Elf is both recon and full frontal assault. In other words; a heavy-class Elf with human blood.

The vanilla elves look good for what beth was trying to achieve, however its not really suited to my personal opinion of what they should look like, mods to beautify and improve upon them will be a great addition imho.

I dont feel either way about them tbh, BUT I did prefer their look in morrowind/oblivion compared to skyrim.

I'm not sure you can say you prefered Morrowind AND Oblivion over Skyrim, because Morrowind had a completely different artistic design to the races than Oblivion...
