shaban1er
*FIXED* Is it possible that having too many textures/loose files installed (the majority of textures are 2k, i think lol) can crash your game? It's been happening to me recently and it got worse to a point when i load a game and i instantly start moving or shooting, it crashes, even when im inside a building running minimum 50 fps. I honestly can't even remember when it started crashing since i haven't been playing fallout for too much lately. Another very odd thing i notice is everytime fallout crashes, it slows down the gpu. I confirmed this by playing Witcher 3 (3k resolution and like 99% settings maxed out with texture mods, runs average 50 fps), it ran at 10-20 fps after fallout crashes. I was able to see that the second gpu was clocked at 324 mhz and the first 1000 mhz (normally both runs at 1111 boost mhz when its not too hot). I have to restart the computer everytime this happens. I spend so much time trying to fix this, never had this problem in skyrim and i had wayyyy more mods. The majority of mods I have are mainly visual improvements (Grimwolfs ENB and Reshade preset, Power HD R, Vivid Fallout textures and weathers, FlaconOil HD retexture, Valius, Langleys, etc..). I've been playing with them fine until this started happening. What i've tried to do...-fiddle around the plugin order-removed/edit .ini files-install latest drivers-updated mods-add/remove administrative rights to the game and steam-closed programs (KIS, evga, etc...)-reinstall the whole game and nexus mod manager-installing mods one by one and seeing which ones potentially crashed the game-wait 3 days indoor What seems to sort of work...-removing enb and reshade-removing the majority of texture mods Specs:Windows 10 64bit6 core i7780ti SLI dual 3GB VRAM16GB Ram mods: not sure how to extract all my mod info except copying and pasting one by one... Very odd, but nonetheless happy to find a solution. I remember previously turning this on didn't benefit anything and i was having flickering in shadows keeping this on. But now this is doing the complete opposite. Not sure if the other lines "ForceVideoMemorySize=true" and "VideoMemorySizeMb=16000" helped, as i switched them on and off, didn't notice anything except putting it at 19,500 (VRamSizeDX11.exe gave me 20,500) made the game crash. Thanks JimmyRJump, I over looked that one Edited August 23, 2016 by shaban1er
JimmyRJump
What version of the game are you at and are all your mods up-to-date? Also, add large chunks of text into a spoiler box (hit the blue-ish square in-between the eraser and the "Font" box, top left in the full editor, then choose "spoiler" in the "Please select" drop-out menu and add your text in the box that appears). lasse1001
This will be a tedious work for you, but it is the best way to pinpoint any problem: (If it's a mod -thing) Disable all your mods, start a new game, go to a place where your problems where appearing before, then make a save there. Now activate maybe 10 mods from the top, load up your save, check if it crashes. If it did, disable one mod and reload. Do so until you don't have any problems and then the last one you disabled, is your conflicting mod, (or are depending on another mod as a master.) If it didn't crash, then activate maybe 10 more mods. Keep doing like this until you get problems and then do like I wrote up here. When you find the mod who is causing this, update it or remove it. This is probably the only time you really want it to crash as fast as possible. :D Happy error hunting.

Hope it has nothing to do with my VRAM not being able to keep up. I guess im just going to try the new save. Edit:I've tried a new save (created 3 of them before the vault, in the vault, and out the vault) and after installed only texture mods. After installing every texture i got, my save wouldn't start except the one inside the vault. So i uninstall FlaconOil's textures because thats the biggest file. Now i can load up the intro game and after leaving the vault. Now moving around for like not even a minute, it crashed when outside. One particular area i can point out is in the beggining of the game when you run towards Vault 111 and confront the security guard blocking the gate with the 2 soldiers with T-60 power armor. Once i get close to that scene, it stutters and crashes. I decide to uninstall the 4k frame texture that came with it, but not the 4k textures for the rest of the armor. Doing that now allowed me to pass through that scene. This makes no sense. I've always been playing with these textures. I guess ill test it out more and see if i can roll back the graphics drivers, running out of ideas... Edited August 19, 2016 by shaban1er
JimmyRJump
First off, we (at least, I) don't know how well the game copes with SLI/CrossFire. Secondly, as of v1.4 (or something), Bethesda switched to a 'streaming' loading system instead of direct render, which shortens the load times, but makes V-RAM use go bonkers. I have an old AMD MSI R7970 Lightning (3GB of V-RAM) and I'm using ENBoost to enable the game to use system RAM as V-RAM and I'm often going over 10GB of V-RAM use (GPU and system RAM combined; 3GB on the card and 9.5GB system RAM, minus 2.5GB for OS and background programs -monitored by MSI AfterBurner through the display on my G19 keyboard) and I'm not even using that much of texture enhancing mods... So, have a look at ENBoost and also at ShadowBoost (the link's on the ENBoost page)... Also, for me, the latest version of ENBoost doesn't work: v0.283 is the one to go for if the latest version doesn't work for you either. Lastly: some systems don't seem to get on well with mods that come in ba2 files. Try to use their loose files version instead... So now that i finally have the game stable with all my mods installed, now i have to find out how to play 3K resolution (3325 x 1871) above 10 fps..... thanks again jimmy edit:never mind about the 10 fps problem, out of nowhere now im "magically" at minimum 45 fps outside (with grlmwolf's enb & reshade, vivid weathers, major texture mods, etc...). After going through all this, I feel like rocket science is easier to understand...wouldn't be surprised if this problem happens again within the next game update or nvidia drivers though....
