Vault 88 Issues

So I went to Vault 88 on my second character. First, the workshop won't unlock properly. It took the board, but it stayed "Search" and the quest wouldn't advance.



I used the console to artificially advance the quest, but the workshop stayed inaccessible by "V". Oh a whim, I left the map and returned, and that seemed to fix it.



Now, I've built the Overseer's Desk, and THAT won't advance. I built it from the Special menu, and now it's gone from that menu. And still the quest is "Build Overseer's Desk" and when I speak to Barlow, she just insists she needs her desk.



Any idea what I can do? I have no idea what broke this. I'm running basically the same mod loadout, as my original character, just with a couple extra mods that fix the vault lighting and add some more room pieces, and I didn't have any bugs or glitches.So I went to Vault 88 on my second character. Hi,

 

I'm having a problem getting into Vault 88 I just started playing this game again after a long hiatus. I plug my Pipboy into the vault door control but the clear panel covering the button doesn't open and my character just hits the clear panel. Did you have this problem? How'd you get the doors open?

I have a different set of issues witht the Vault: The settlers complain about the "bed situation", despite there being more beds than settlers. I have built quarters in several parts of the vault, do they have to be all in the first one? Also, they don't use any chairs or couches I built, instead they just all gather at one walkway in the Atrium (built in that first cave where the original overseer used to live), and just stand there. I suspect they have trouble navigating through the vault, is there some navmesh fix mod or some way to help them along?

I wouldn't worry too much about what settlers say or how they act. The settlers' behaviour is completely off the charts in FO4. In Jamaica Plain I have the lot gathering on the roof of the inhabited house in front of th derelict church, in County Crossing they all stand around the accidented truck next to the radiation infested, bombed Nuclear Plant across the road (in my game, that terrain is part of the settlement thanks to the "Build High - Expanded Settlements" mod); etc...

 

I also had the first smaller quests in Vault 88 not triggering immediately. I hung around for a while and upon my umpteenth approach/walk-by of Barlow she all of a sudden started the right dialogue to trigger the next quest...

Just fast travel away from the vault and back and the quest will advance. Or try saving/reloading the game.

 

I have read elsewhere that Settlers cannot sleep in beds built outside the main cave area and this appears to be true. I built a large apartment at the bottom of the stairs to the North East Sector but although one settler on Defence will patrol to the bottom of the stairs she just goes straight back. My vault is unusable now so it doesn't matter any more.

I built a large apartment at the bottom of the stairs to the North East Sector but although one settler on Defence will patrol to the bottom of the stairs she just goes straight back. My vault is unusable now so it doesn't matter any more.

 

I left Vault 88 even before having found all three large WorkShops. Too many bugs, too many crashes and too lame a story (to my taste, of course) to feel like continuing...

Perhaps can you help me for this curious behaviour.

All Vault 88 areas are clean and protected with turrets but only the main cave is occupied by a very nice but basic vault (only a ground floor with stores, a farm, restaurant, reactor room and a first floor with residential quarters and clinic.... basic). I have 16 settlers and during the day everything work relatively fine, but when the night comes... things turn strange, very strange.

 

If some settlers stay inside after 10/11 pm. like Clem (wich really love the power bike), the young Shaun + an other children, 2/3 farmers, doctor and 3 other workers, 6 of them -which all guards- disappears outside. I've tried to track and found them with the very useful mod "Settlement Management Software". 2 guards were found at Coastal Cottage helping local settlers against a mirelurks attack before return to Vault 88 quietly, the trader was found in Bunker Hill smocking a cigarette and return to the Vault as soon I talk to him and I've not yet found the 3 others (due some random and tiresome CTD since the 1.7.10 patch).

 

For information, only one guard and the trader are assigned in the main area, the others guards are placed at the entrance of the east / north / north-east areas. For the settlers staying inside during the night, only 4 or 5 interract with equipment and environnement, the others are in "potted plant" mode, the restaurant is deserted like residential quarters.

All other settlements are working perfectly, even the "Conquest" settlements.

 

Mods like "Better Settlers" could be incompatibles ?

 

As usual with FO4, I think I need more an exorcist rather than a technical support. This game is definitively a gate to the 5th dimension. Sorry for my bad english and thanks for your help.

And that's OK for you. The Vault Tec DLC was fairly cheap for what it was and I really enjoyed the mental challenge of trying to build it like a 3D crossword. But there's a UK law which states that goods bought (including digital downloads) have to be of "merchantable quality" ie they work as described before you buy them. When I bought this I should have been sold something which didn't react with a patch so badly that it became effectively unusable, which it has. As it is I was just enjoying when I found my efforts were totally wasted.

im hvaing a problem with this questline im stuck at the point where you have to have clem dress as a vbault dweller i give him the pipboy and the jumpsuit but all he does is put on the pipboy and not the jumpsuit please help what should i do this is like the 3rd or 4th time this has happened and yes im using mods on fallout 4
