If anyone is interested there is a single developer working on a port of Morrowind to Android. The demo video is here


It's about half way done and is working very well on a mobile now.

Bloody hell, I read the thread title and assumed it was someone talking about porting OpenMW to Android. I guess I keep on getting surprised by the horsepower of phones these days.

It is incredible to see a game that was pushing the limits when I was younger being played on a device slightly large than my wallet.

The funny thing is the GPU is only running at around 30% so there's a huge amount of room to put fancy shader's into it.

I suspect that's mainly because the skinning animations are done on the CPU, but they need to be pushed off to the GPU at some point.

Yes there had been some discussion on that, which ended up in the following:

 

 

There might be a port of opnMW running on mobile devices, but there will never be a Morrowind on Android, due to legal issues imposed by Bethesda Softworks. Well, I'm not the one who needs this having two rigs standing here in large :wink:

openMW 0.40.0 has been released these days, which is widely a matter of bugfixes and smaller improvements.

 

Ubuntu users find it on the launchpad :smile:

Aaaand,which might be of some interest if not known: There is really someone writing code for a openMW multiplayer version ...
