My mod removed Precombined Meshes from a whole bunch of cells

Recommended Posts

A Pre-combined mesh can be and are shared by multiple cells. If you edit Cell A and it shares it's Pre-Combined mesh with Cell B, C and even Cell Z you automagically have now edited all those cells because once you edit a form that is used in a Pre-Combined Mesh Pre-Combined is disabled.

You don't have to even look at the cell for it to be flagged as edited though the Ckit dose sometimes just mark cells as edited with no explanation.

I'll stick to what this says and whom says it as a premier modder and outstanding in mod making that you are.

you know more about mods than any one here.

I'm no expert on Pre-Combined and zilav probably know a lot more about this then I do.

I read tons about it when the Ckit first released and it gave me a headache. It all started to seem fairly irrelevant simply because if I edit a cell, generate new Pre-Combined and Vis for that cell and another mod adds a new building to the same cell and also generates new Pre-Combined and Vis which one wins?

It seemed to me the last one installed not the last one loaded because the .uvd files are not mod specific.

Again, I'm not saying what I'm saying as an expert here. It's my take and if I'm wrong I'd be more then happy to learn why.ÃÃÂ

Yeah, no offense meant.

...are any of us experts? ;-)

...sometimes I'm reminded of fish flopping around on the deck...some may be bigger than others, but they're all in the same boat. =P

Anywho, as far as I know, Precombine Geometry for Cell only generates for that cell you are currently focused on. Generate Precombined Visibility for Cell does the 3x3 clump.

Why? Goodness knows why...but there has got to be a reason for clumping like it does. Maybe speed of the process, erring on the side of assuming you'll be doing large quantities of cells at a time?

I was talking about a link to the Beth site in the other thread in Tech support "Trying to locate an issue". That was in regards to errors having odd file path info built into them. Again I could also be wrong on that one but I do remember seeing a thread over there that said the game didn't care about anything before Meshes/Textures and so on, in the file path.
