Trypal7
It's like this, both cards do very well. Decent cuda count and OC potential. Core clocks are really close when you tweak them in. So, I would go with the 960. And like the fella up wait a year and get the 1070.
asdasdGamer
1 year is a long time without a well modded skyrim :D, probably i will go for the 960 but the r9 380 has a very imperssive look
Project579
Have you thought about the RX 480 8gig from Sapphire (price shouldn't go over 350$ normal is around 300$) Link: http://sapphirenitro.sapphiretech.com/en/480-8.html or the RX 470 8gig from Sapphire (price shoudn't go over 275$) Link: http://sapphirenitro.sapphiretech.com/en/470-8.htmlBoth of them can destroy an R9 380. What CPU are you going to use? Edited August 26, 2016 by Project579

twiztedmongoloid
@twiztedmongoloid: Thanks! I just retired my old warhorse GPU (a GTX 670 with only a 2GB buffer) and replaced it with a GTX 980 due to the recent price drop. I'm about to start with a fresh install and a new mod list. I wasn't aware of this issue, but I'll keep an eye out. When i bought my 970 i was upgrading from two 660's lol. Now my 970 is really being pushed to the limit.....need a 1070 but also the money!!!! If i had a 1070 i would probably roll back to windows 7 just for skyrim. Wouldnt be hard for me to do at all. Project579
I think my previous setup would have been able to handle new games if the gtx 780Ti had more than 3gig of vram.
twiztedmongoloid
Probably. It fills up quick. Thats why all the newer cards have 4plus because thats whats needed these days.
