LeddBate
The 780/780Ti have 3gb gddr5 memory, the 960 has 4gb Both cards are good. The 780Ti will definitely give you more fps than the 960, but the 960 is more "future proof" with the 4GB buffer as opposed to the 3GB of the 780. In your shoes I'd go for the 960. I also could buy an R9 380 for the same price, what about that card? Yes. If you can find it for the same price (or lower) then it is just slightly superior to the 960. jones177
I could only start to mod Skyrim to the max & stay playable when I got a 4 gb card. Even today with my GTX 1080 I only use 3.5 to 3.7 gb vram. My 250+ mod game will still load on my old GTX 680 4gb & it has about the same performance as a 960. Looking at it another way, a 780 ti would be better for ENB & a 960 could handle more NPCs & textures. Both are compromises. For this game at 1920X1080 resolution the best card is the 980. It can run Skyrim at 60fps with ENB & it can be a totally smooth experience. Later
BlackRoseOfThorns
I think my previous setup would have been able to handle new games if the gtx 780Ti had more than 3gig of vram. 3GB of Vram was a bummer on my slightly OC gtx780ti. 6GB gtx 980ti even when capped at same fps, gives much smoother experience (less stutter). Project579
Well i can confirm you that my 2 780ti K|NGP|N cannot run my Skyrim main mod pack their VRAM gets filled immediately; Differently my 2 980Ti give me a smooth experience always around 60fps (goes down in areas filled by NPC or heavily modified by mods like JK's Skyrim and ETaC). But with games that don't use too much VRAM the 780Ti is still a great card.
Darkstyler35
<Differently my 2 980Ti give me a smooth experience> how is the noise + temp ?
Project579
The noise is pretty bad but i think its my fault i used only Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC 3000 RPM PWM fans (6 of them) and they make a lot of noise but even the 2 GPU on their own make a good amount of noise i never managed to get over 73° C using the original BIOS (i couldn't overclock more because of the power limit). The experience with the 2 780Ti wasn't really different anyway; so i'm used to the noise and don't notice it anymore (at least if the fans are at 50% to 65% and they never go over that value) but according to the people that saw it when all the fans spin at 100% it makes far more noise then 2 vacuum cleaners. Darkstyler35
<when all the fans spin at 100% it makes far more noise then 2 vacuum cleaners.> lol I can imagine. Be careful if you have pets that they are not sucked in by the fans ^^

Project579
Before you start modding read some of the pinned threads in the forum they will help you for sure and consider watching series from youtubers: Gopher: https://www.youtube.com/user/GophersVids Dirty Weasel Media: https://www.youtube.com/user/ar15nurse Speaking of ENB consider RealVision the guide on the Nexus page will help you understand the basics and what mods are essential (in the graphics side of things): http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936 Other good guide: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76373 probably better then the RealVision one.
