Facegendata only working on computer it was created on

Recommended Posts

I've tried googling this but I can't seem to find my specific problem.

I've released a number of follower mods, and I've noticed a problem with the gray face bug, but only on computers of those that downloaded the mod. Before you ask, yes I've done ctrl F4 and yes I've packaged the files in the correct location when distributing the mod.

Basically, for me it works perfectly because I've done the facegen export on my computer. It doesn't work for anyone else though. And I did notice that when I clear my data directory and reinstall my own mod through NMM, the gray face bug happens to me. To get it working again, I have to go back into creation kit and re-export everything again.

I'm positive that I've put it in the correct location (Data\textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint), so I know that can't be it.

If anyone knows what the problem could be, please help me out.

if you think you got all the files in the right place try...

On the computer you are testing it out on has grey face slide that mod to the bottom of the load list and see if the face looks normal.

if you still have a grey face or distorted face, the second PC your testing it on might be missing a required mod or a mod that overrides it. like eye modes or skins, also missing race if you used a custom race.

example even the war maidens mod faces look bad and grey after I run loot. back then I would have to drag that mod to the bottom of my load order and then the faces would look correct.

tip: on the pc you made the preset, load the preset in race menu if you use that, and it should list the mods it use to build it like eyes and brows and the race you made. then see if the pc you loading it on has those resources also.

Are you packaging into a bsa? because if all else fails don't pack the Facegen in your bsa, include them as loose files.

Also you mentioned only the Texture path - you have included the meshes as well haven't you?

Oh, there's facegen meshes too? This might actually be my problem.

Edit: After some testing, I'm pretty sure that was the problem. Thanks!
