TobyTravis
They sound like a pretty cool bunch of guys (and gals), but what, other than a bunch of quests, a room and a certain curse do you get from them? Is there more to get from them?
Dambuster
Money, reasonable loot from most of your quests. The ability to craft new armor from old stuff and a couple of unique armors and weapons. You also gain the a lot of rather good followers who can mostly train you in one or another combat skill. Lachdonin
And you get to put some hair on your chest. Really though, theres not mcuh advantage to any of the factions in the game. Less than even in Oblivion. At least in Morrowind you had o join the guilds to get access to most of the trainers,,, Still, if i played TES games for the guilds, i would have quit when i started Oblivion. Handofbane
The primary thing you get from them is pretty much an early-game advantage. Skyforge weapons blow away everything through Orcish/Dwarven, you will not see any weapons resembling an upgrade short of magic dropped items, daedric artifacts, or Glass/Ebony. That is actually my biggest complaint about the quest line, giving such a big advantage so early actually hurts the motivation to work smithing, which should be a viable priority as a warrior-type skill. The only real way around is dump the weapons (gimping yourself), or focus on maces/warhammers/bows since those do not have Skyforge equivalents. nitevision92
The weapons and training are the best things you can get from them. The trainers in Jorrvaskr basically provide almost all of the warrior-type skills you need, such as one-handed, two-handed, blocking etc. You'll have to find someone else for Sneak, though.
