adding alpha to a mesh

So im trying to modify the imperial helmet and i managed to add the alpha to the mesh with nifskope, but this is what i get http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll203/icingdeath89/Skyrim/TESV2011-11-2921-34-30-36.jpg

So is it even possible to get the face to show or did i mess up?

You did it right. Don't expect the head to rendered under closed helmets, like dwarven or daedric. This is normal behaviour.

 

It's a biped slot issue. The helmet uses a 'head' slot. what you want it to use is a 'hair' slot. No idea how to do that without the CK and definitely cannot be done without making a plugin file.
