wishbone346
So I recently bought a new TV (have been using my TV as a monitor for a while now) and something odd has occurred with the game. First and foremost I'm getting this odd graphical error with dresses in-game that causes them to show black polygons for lack of a better word all over them. The polygons seem to change in number and severity as I move the camera, and they also tend to get worse the darker the lighting is. I'm also getting a really odd blur effect when moving. The blur seems worst when I try to change my character's face either through Doc Crocker, or through the modded mirror I'm using. The blur is REALLY bad to the point it actually makes me physically sick while playing the game. I only found one other thread on this subject and no one seems to have found a fix for it. I did find this Youtube video which claimed to fix a similar issue and gave it a try, but it doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. Anyway I'm really bummed out cause I was hoping to try out Nuka World, but I just can't play the game in this state. The only other thing that's changed since I got the new TV is that I installed some texture mods, but I tried uninstalling all of those and nothing changed. If anyone could help me out I'd be forever in your debt.
steve40
In your game launcher, under Options->Advanced in the Detail tab, try disabling Motion Blur and Ambient Occlusion, and in the View Distance tab, reduce Distant Object Detail from Ultra to High. TheGadget1945
It sounds a bit like Artifacting ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_artifact I used to run the Trainz rail simulator a few years ago when I was a novice with computers and I got these brightly coloured lights (a bit like traffic lights) popping up on the screen. I found out they were Artifacts .As far as I remember it simply needed my GPU drivers updating.Try steve40's suggestion first though as this Ambient Occlusion thing is a major problem for a lot of people. wishbone346
In your game launcher, under Options->Advanced in the Detail tab, try disabling Motion Blur and Ambient Occlusion, and in the View Distance tab, reduce Distant Object Detail from Ultra to High.Tried this and it did seem to fix the issue with the dresses, but the blur remains. It does happen less often now, but it's still there, and when changing character appearance it's just as bad as it was to start with. :(
JimmyRJump
Could also be you have to fiddle with your NVidia settings (when using that brand of GPU). Have read about folk having similar issues, awhile back, but can't remember exactly what needed to be done. Also -I've been using a Samsung Series 5000 "37 TV for over five years now- avoid using the Blu-Ray HDMI inlet of the TV. The latter gives over-contrasting for some reason (at least, in my case). wishbone346
I fiddled with the TV since someone on another forum said it could be on the TV's end instead of on Fallout's, and wouldn't you know it that was the case. After switching the "scene select" on the TV to "game" the blurring seems to have gone away. I've even been able to turn TAA back on. The game is looking better than ever, and it's running at a pretty decent frame rate too. I guess sometimes the simplest answer is the right one ha ha!
