lelcat - Formal warning issued

Recommended Posts

Lelcat had already been banned earlier on in the day on our Discord server, but because the moderator had used the "remove all content" feature of Discord, when lelcat complained, I had no way of verifying that the ban was justified. As such, I unbanned lelcat from the Discord server. On his second ban (within 8 hours of the first), the "remove all content" feature was not used, so I could read the chat logs and make up my own mind. It was quite obviously a justified ban.

We do not link Discord misbehaviour to the Nexus at this time for a couple of reasons. One, there's no way of verifying the identity of users between the Nexus and Discord and two, we want a clear disconnect between the two services. As such, a ban from our Discord server is just a ban from our Discord server, and not related to being banned or warned on the Nexus. This warning, however, was for comments in private messages on these forums in regards to Discord. So, on the Nexus.

As lelcat is rather vocal, and for transparency reasons, I shall quote what caused him to tell me to go f*#@ myself and call me an asshole. For context, he was challenging why he had been banned from the Nexus Discord channel.

I've added SirSalami to this conversation to keep him in the loop.
You are constantly talking down to people, calling them "kids", with a patronising and often insulting demeanour and deliberately starting confrontation. It's certainly not conducive to a friendly and inviting community by any stretch. If you're wondering why so many people report you, it's because you seemingly can't debate a topic without being insulting and/or patronising to other people debating the topic.
I think it's safe to say that your style is simply not compatible with such a community, and I'm not sure why you'd want to be a part of one that isn't welcoming to your choice of style of conversation. If you don't find anything to jump on other people for what they say, then you simply start making up stupid controversial subjects so that you can argue with people. It's pathetic. It simply sparks constant confrontation, which you seem to revel in, but others have an extreme dislike towards, which is why you are sticking out like a sore thumb.
Case in point, at 7.18pm last night, out of the blue and without anyone mentioning anything other than Overwatch, you had this to say:
7:18 PM cat: mobas suck
7:18 PM cat: dota ruined the progress for left 4 dead games
7:18 PM Biscuit: dota2 is <3
7:19 PM cat: dota is for girls
7:19 PM Kimberlee: :armscrossed:
7:19 PM Biscuit: @cat arent you a sexist one lolz
7:19 PM cat: I only play games that have either: 1. zombies 2. 10 different ammo types 3. weapon mods
7:20 PM cat: because thats what a man plays
7:20 PM cat: if you dont agree, then you have to live with the shame
7:20 PM cat: you can spot a game being for girls by horses
7:20 PM cat: girls only play games with horses in them
If you think that's a good conversation, or even an acceptable conversation, even in jest, then you're wrong, and you are, in fact, the child here. You're deliberately saying extreme things to spark a reaction out of people that you can then jump on and argue for your own pleasure. I'm not sure what psychological reason you have for doing that, but I'd recommend reflecting long and hard on why you feel the need to do that.
Having read the chat logs, I agree with the moderators that you are not a positive influence in the chat. Indeed, you revel in being a negative influence in the chat. And for that reason, I won't be unbanning you.

As such, lelcat's Discord ban was upheld and he would not be allowed back on. Lelcat didn't like that, so decided to throw some insults my way. And that's what this third and final formal warning is for.
