hey folks,

I am running vista and although my system updated from those d*ckheads at steam, i am not getting the probs that you all have.

my system looped at the opening menu as last time but i verified the files from the dvd and all was hunky dory.

is it a problem running the game with windows 7 as i was debating updating my op system but dont think i will bother now.

also what do you all mean by the `CK', apologies in advance for a possibly dumb question

uExterior Cell Buffer

uGridsToLoad

iPreloadSizeLimit

If you had them changed prior to patch and then tried to run the game crash is inevitable. Patch reverted ini files to their default values, what means simply that any save with altered above values would crash due to how engine handles cell buffer. After applying the patch just move your saves from My Documents folder, set up graphic options, start new game, change whatever you need to in game settings, exit menu with Esc (to the point when you see "Saving settings..." message) then exit the game. Compare newly created ini with your old ini files, apply your previous changes (WinMerge or Notepad++ is great for that), copy back your saves where they belong. Apply new version of LAA if you have to. Enjoy the game.

The only thing which is borked for me after the patch are resistances which seems non existent. And they removed exiting menus by Tab and changed it to Esc (why not leave both?). Dragons act properly, no problem with mouse cursor anymore, static shadows (from like furniture not actors) looks great, better performance overall. Actors dynamic shadows still pixelated. Couldn't check any quests related changes yet.

Some UI related mods might cause compatibility problems as they changed stuff in Skyrim - Interface.bsa

for me 1.2 = the following

resistances are broken.

Some dragons fly backwards and warp erratically.

Menu listings are off by one line in most instances.

I get game pauses (FPS frezzes of about 0.5 sec every 5 or 10 mins) whereas before i did not.

My game rig is a 4ghz 6core AMD with dual 5770 and 16 gig ddr3 game is running of a SSD

was running fine before the update now its not

we need a new update fast

After the first patch I did a fresh install and now I'm running the game straight off TESV.exe with fxaa + enb v.5 + 4gb fix+ retexts and I haven't looked back once. I wouldn't even think about going 1.2. I've had 0 crashes since the 4gb fix and the game looks amazing.

If more people stopped d/l the backward patching Betehsda is providing they'd think twice before ruining the game experience for their client base.

I'm on 1.2, lockpicking and my resistances seem to work fine. In fact, I have had no problems (I don't even recall the game doing CTD after alt-tabbing since I got the patch, come to think of it.)

Also dragons fly fine for me, though I wish I could see them flying backwords :/

TESV.exe at version 1.2.12.0 updated 11/30/2011 12:32PM - never used any 4GB patch, INI tweaking or anything. Playing the same saves I use before.

Do these bugs only happen with certain perks, or at specific segments of the story? Because so far I have yet to experience any of the problems people have been saying.

Edit: Also running at 1920x1080 fullscreen with almost everything set to max, exception being shadows I think.

I was playing today and I assume it loaded the new patch. My lockpicking no longer works. I can angle the pick with the mouse, but the A + D keys do nothing. I took my save to my GF's computer and tried it there on her copy of the game... same problem. I then tried loading one of her saves and it still won't work with her character either.

GRRR!

If people do not test the updates and report the bugs then we will never get an improved game.

If we all sat back and did not upgrade but just waited till someone else says the upgrade is good. It would take forever as the bug reports would be slow

after the patch the game crashes at fast travel, mouse was only moving horizontal, some keys not working...

deleted the skyrim.ini, skyrimprefs.ini and the render.txt in mydocuments folder...(these were tweaked)

start game, launcher detect settings....everything works fine

now better shadows, better mouse movement, sligthly better performance overall...but...every 5-10min. the game has a short freeze for half a second...

no resistance issues so far, dragons are flying as before, but cant take souls anymore from respawned dragons ...
