CTD Immediately After Dialogue

400+ hours of good clean fun of this mezmarising time-suck. After playing with the Vault-Tec DLC, I saw someone else's water features in his vault, and wanted to do something similar. So, I downloade the Build Your Own Pool Mod - first mod I've ever added to the game. It didn't seem to work, so I tried to uninstall the mod. I had finished eliminating a courser and went back to PAM for another assignment. As soon as she updates my PipBoy map, CTD. So I decide to not bother with PAM and enter Nuka World. Now, I've passed through the gauntlet and in the locker room talking to the guy on the intercom. As soon as he says he's going to open the door, CTD. So, it appears anytime someone adds something to my Quest? (somehow I got past the dad in the NukaWorld train station).

I've been reading so many Forum's trying to find a similar issue and played around with many fix ideas, but no luck. I can't get past this conversation with the intercom-dude. I should never have touched a mod! Stupid pretty waterfall lured me into a tailspin. I don't understand how I've played so many hours, and now cannot play at all. I would think my machine is fine, so what did I do to the files and how do I undo it?

I'm not the dullest knife in the kitchen, and I know you'll need more information than I've given. Anyone lend a hand?

It's more likely you have problems with the Nuka World DLC and the 1.7.12 update that comes with it than with the Build Your Own Pool mod. I'm running 330 mods (254 plug-ins), including the Pool mod and don't have any issues. But I've held off the Nuka World DLC so far (and am still at v1.7.9 of the game as well) because of too many people having problems with it...

So, just don't play it until another update comes out? I unistalled and re-downloaded/installed the game in hopes that would fix it, so I have the most recent update. I wouldn't know how to revert back to the older version even if that was an option, anyway.

There's a possibility that -just like with the map marker of Automatron's Mechanist Lair- it's the addition of the map-marker for Nuka World which cause the crash. Normally, that happens only to people who have a mod that changes the HUD, like KeyNuker and some such, so, maybe keep an eye on the mod section for FO4.

Elianora posted a patch for this issue, but set the file to invisible because it needed fixing and it hasn't reappeared again yet...

Should you have used a HUD altering mod but deleted it, check the FO4 Data/Interface folder and delete anyting that is in it...

  • 4 years later...

So I had this problem recently and just reinstalled all the mods that had any files in Fallout 4\Data\interface. I first deleted the files that were inside(backed them up as well) and then just reinstalled all the mods one by one. Seems my game doesn't crash at the end of dialogues no more. Hope this helps anybody with the same issues.

These are the mods I had reinstalled :
