Nexus Mod Creation: Describing, screens, etc.

Hello all - im sure that all of the users in this forum are both involved in downloading or creating mods for their Oblivion or Morrowind. And im also sure you do not appreciate searching the mod database and getting these mods without screenshots or any deep description.

Sometimes you can get those cool looking mods that you get and have to spend 10 minutes cleaning up and preparing to send to the Data file - those can be very tedious also.

So for the sake of your mod, please put in those few extra sentences and take 5 minutes to start up your game, take a screenshot, close the game, then upload the damned picture into the site....

That process is what, an extra 6 minutes? If you made the mod I think its agreeably kind to give some info, if you named it cool then I want to get it but I dont know if its worth it... Especially when you dont tell me where to find these items, or what they look like...

Thanks

-Ashes

Do you realize that most of those mod authors that don't put more than 1-sentence descriptions or screenshots will likely never this this post?

If you really want to help improve this community overall, be on the lookout for new mods being released and make sure to leave a helpful comment about the mod that lacks enough descriptive words or screenshots. You can even take screenshots and attach them to the mod page (in most cases) to help everyone else out where the mod author does/can not.

If you see a mod that has no description and you can type up a good enough description for it, let me know and I'll update the mod page.

Thanks,

LHammonds

Boy, you are highly presumptive aren't you. You presume to qualify your opinions reflect those of everyone, well I got a flash for you, you do not.

Further you make the assumption, that everyone has abilities and capabilities to do screenshots and upload them in a short period of time. Again this is not the case...I live on a 24k Dial up connection, just to upload a file of 10 megs takes me well over an hour. Now you want me to take additional time from my life to take and upload screen shots just so you can see what is in the mod....have a little faith and trust and view and read the comments.....review the rating.

If you find a file that should have a screenshot, download load it up find the item, take a screenshot and upload it to the rfile page.

Obviously you forgot or are unaware that all the screenshots from tessource we lost with the demise of that site on september 11th.....the screenshots that you see are a result of the communities efforts to restore them many of the original mod creators have moved on and are no longer active in the community.

Hell wasn't it just two days ago you didn't know what a rar file was, and started a flaming thread whining and complaining that things were not in a zip format.

Just to refresh your memory:

Thanks LHammonds. I didn't know you could add stuff to other modders uploads like descriptions & screen shots.

Is there a “how to” that covers that?

I wouldn’t mind doing that for people if they needed me to.

Screenshots, are easy, go to the images tab of the file page.....scroll down to the bottom and you will see:

Add your own images (click on that)..

It will take you to an image upload page for that file.

Put in the title of the screenie.

select the location of the screenshot on your hd.

(can upload 5 at a time) Don't use duplicate naames, they have to be diffferent.

Click on submit when you are ready.....if on a dial up go make a sandwich, and eat it while you wait.

If everything goes ok you will get a screen that says "Success", if not it will tell you what the problem is.

Other than images, which all are allowed to do, changes to the file description and mirrors, it is only the uploader or someone else allowed to change/add/corrrect.

Here is what I suggest......type up what you want to add/change/delete and use the report button from the file page, which will be under the options tab.

When it comes up with the report screen.....select miscellaneous, and type in what you want to do.......and what you think needs to be changed.

Then one of the file moderators can make the change.

Hope this helps and makes sense.
