tomhughes
Oh well gives us more time to plan but shame we have to wait. As for Steam Workshop - will have to wait and see...
gengrimm
Apprently Steam wants to take the Nexus's Niche on Bethesda Mod hosting? Steam Workshop – We’re excited to share news that we’ve been working closely with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit. Using the Workshop, you’ll have free user content with the push of a button. The Creation Kit will bundle your mod and upload it to the Workshop, where everyone can browse, rate, and flag mods for download. You’ll be able to do this from any web device, including your smartphone. Like a live Netflix queue, when you fire up Skyrim, mods you flagged will be automatically downloaded and installed. Everyone here is really excited about the opportunities and possibilities this opens up for our entire community. Rather than have to create a brand new from scratch hosting service they should have just teamed with Nexus for a integrated system rather than having two seperate systems. RenownedWolfman
Now when we release mods we have the choice to put it on the nexus ( Good for getting it to all the nexus people) or the steam workshop (for getting the mod to all the people that don't know about the nexus) (just put it on both) for modders it sounds like a win-win, well thats how i see it. Shawkab
One final kick in the pants, I can't comment on their blog. Tells me that "Comments are closed" :wallbash: Is there going to be a CK beta? Given the current state of Skyrim (As amazing as it could/should/would be), I feel that exhaustive QA testing should become a BethSoft priority. They must have incremented the, "no downers," rule on their blog. Seriously, dunno why you're taking all this news so negatively, it sounds awesome. Also, to you guys bitching about Steamworks.. You should always read the entire article first. Prefer to use existing modding sites? Not a problem. You’ll still be able to upload/share/access Skyrim mods on fan-created mod sites. To be fair, nexus is pretty unstable at the moment, it has to much traffic, integrating steam with nexus? no thanks, they will need a lot more servers for that to work out well. LHammonds
I was really jazzed about Skyrim, even after playing it the 1st oh...hundred hours. Couldn't wait for the CK to arrive. Then the auto-updates started to arrive...even though I said NOT to patch this game. The ONLY way to keep Steam from auto-patching it was to never go online. Way to go Steam. Confidence in Steam -1 Patches that fix problems is not a bad thing...however patches that cause problems is quite irritating and there have been 3 highly unsatisfactory patches delivered. Confidence in Bethesda -3 Steamworks now managing Skyrim mods? I cannot help but feel even worse about this. My modding excitement for Skyrim has now sank to an all-time low. If only I could get Skyrim 1.0 back. Confidence -
neiljwd
I'm a bit worried when they January, we'll see it on the 29th, not the 2nd or whatever.
CampanaAliquanta
I'm a bit worried when they January, we'll see it on the 29th, not the 2nd or whatever. Well the 2nd would be a bit premature. If you were Bethesda would you want to come back right after New Year and plunge straight into a major release? Give them at least a week or two into January before we start getting impatient. runicNomad
Steam workshop of hell NO! sigh... meh... vomit...So now MODs will directly contribute if they choose to Steam which makes huge profit. Hmmm. I wonder if at least they will offer MODders the ability to collect money from steam for their work since I am sure Steam Workshop will be stock full of ads. Why the hell did they not use the already existing Nexus which has been going strong and proven for years now. I for one do not want Steam to have anything to do with my MODs. I mean steam certified MODs yanno. Ones that are certified and accepted. Hope everybody just sticks with Nexus!
