DorkDiva
@ renownedwolfman "You obviously have no idea how games are made. If they hadn't made it. 1: Skyrim wouldn't be out2: it would take longer than a month to build. Now no more trolling, or stop being sarcastic, or read a book. choose a response that is appropriate to the situation." Actually I do know, I know some developers and designers personally, and they have their own in house tools which allow different measures to make changes to their software yet alone create. Plus going to school for game design myself, and graduating in a few months, I think I have a good understanding. If I am going to say something, like say, my opinion, I am going to say it. Unless you are a staff member, don't tell me what I should or shouldn't do please. That is all. Edited December 2, 2011 by DorkDiva
Adrius2
Still man... the creation kit is supposed to be the same tools the developers used. Ergo, since we have the game, the creation kit exists already. Edited December 2, 2011 by Adrius2
Balakirev
Creation Kit — Beginning in January, PC players will be able to download the same development tools we used at Bethesda Game Studios to create Skyrim. In tandem with the Creation Kit's release, we will roll out a new Wiki and videos to help you get started. It also features something we think you're going to love… No mention of "early." Just sometime in January, roughly 2 months after the game's release. Please note that, for comparison's sake only, Oblivion's CS was out 2 days before the game. Mshai
Allow me to be as brief as I can be:HELL NO TO STEAM WORKSHOP! NEVER EVER WILL I USE IT! I would sacrifice my marokei mask from my Breton girl that steam is guilty for the late release of the KC! I've been here from Morrowind as a lurker and a guest, over the Oblivion as registered, then Dragon Age, and there is no way that I will leave this GREAT COMMUNITY with so awesome and creative modders! Stay strong, stay united people! >:(
gandalfnyc
I think what it all means, some one has dollar signs in their bottom line. The ones that make mods will have to make sure that their work has a copyright on it. Mods for dollars. It sure will be interesting to see where this is a going. saintjimmyz
"Prefer to use existing modding sites? Not a problem. You’ll still be able to upload/share/access Skyrim mods on fan-created mod sites." THERE IS STILL A GOD.
capnfnx
I think a point most are missing here is copyright infringement lawsuits against modders and sites like the Nexus. Steam will win everyone of them and it will limit mods not only through steam but here as well, thus the possible end of community quality mod sites associated with any game w/steam. Modders do deserve a great deal of credit for additions to games and gaming, even fixing broken releases, but they do it for the love of the game and kudos not cash. Pay for play will most certainly change the dynamics of modding and mod sites. I haven't been gaming for very long although I am nearly fifty, I love the nexus and what I have learned from modders and their creations, I see this change as a likely bad development for the community as a whole. P.S. If Steam is the new business model for the world, welcome to the old U.S.S.R., seriously don't be apathetic about this.Capitalism is not a bad word, just don't give away your rights to everything. MonsterMonkey
i'm not worried about steam selling user mods, it has no future, it will flop as surely as the sun rise in the east.Because they are a team at work mean while we are thousands and even more people, plenty of us knows much about PC's and programs we 'll always find a way to continue modding for free and without steam, power to the people. I allways keep Steam disconnected when i play solo games like Skyrim and i have my original exe file backup so they dont update my files or watch what i do if i dont want them to do and i dont give a s*** about the success system, let this to kids xbox gamers. capnfnx
But how far can they push their copyright and or push Bethesda? Btw I am enjoying this game at this point perhaps not as much as Morrowind or Oblivion. Oblivion was my introduction to pc gaming and modding. The future of modding without access to an sdk is in question, it may be all on the backs of those willing to wear an eyepatch and hone their hacking skills which would truly be unfortunate for the modding community and an insult to those who wish to support the efforts of great game developers. Thunderwulf32
One thing for sure is that Bethesda is allowing Steam to violate our privacy, which is against the law.
