Viperslayer
I've been modelling and importing new weapons into Oblivion for quite a few years now, but I'm completely lost as to how to get the .nif file working for Skyrim. I got Nifskope running and loading skyrim nifs, but when I took a look at a weapon in skyrim in nifskope I totally got confused. Can someone write up a step by step, to making a new weapon for skyrim in nifskope for me? I'd really appreciate it. I tired the same technique for Oblivion with the new file format, but..... it seems the texturing property is something called "BSLightingShaderProperty", and I when I tired to paste that block into the mesh I imported it just threw it on the bottom of the list unlinked to the model I'm trying to get it too. Really confused... So, yea step by step if anyone could write it up?
gechbal
you'll need this for nifscope http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1531
Ghogiel
Open a skyrim nif. select a mesh object you want to replace>file>import>obj. now delete the old material and texturing property. hook up a vanillia shader block in the right place http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/478312-tutorial-3ds-max-skinned-meshes-into-game/ http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/469935-modding-skyrim-with-tessnip-and-nifskope/ http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/457148-graphics-modding/

t0mm06
How did you put it in game? did you make it a new sword or replace and old one?if you've replaced one, you need to save your textures as dds files and put them in the textures folder under the same name as the sword you've replaced texture namesif it's its own sword then you need to name the do the same thing but put name the textures the same as your sword nif file, so if the sword is called Sword1.nif the texture files have to be called Sword1.dds and Sword1_n.dds
Viperslayer
I made a new sword. I followed all the instructions, linked the new shader property to the trishape, and in game its just completely black. Texture paths are right... Viperslayer
I also might add that I use Wings3D, and exported via OBJ, I never had problems with Oblivion and I got this same sword into Oblivion today. However, interestingly enough, in nifskope; the skyrim version of my sword is completely flat grey.

Viperslayer
I just realized my obj i'm importing is NOT including the UV map data. Why is it doing this? "Could not load texture data for UV editor." No matter how many times I hit import, regardless of me exporting via wings3d in 3ds or obj format, using the beta nifskope with the temporary updated xml file... the uv cords don't carry over when imported. Viperslayer
Okay this thread can be closed. I have a lot of work to do now that I figured this out. Looks like the stand alone NEW version of nifskope does it all, adding the xml file to it ruins everything.
