MShoap13
WAT? .obj is for meshes, .dds is for textures. Two completely different entities that work together to give us detailed 3d models. Skyrim uses the .nif format for it's meshes and there may or may not be conversion plugins available for Skyrim's .nif files and Maya. I know there is a plugin for 3DS Max, and I believe throttlekitty's nif.xml does this for Blender though I'm not 100% sure.

MShoap13
As I stated, I don't believe there is a conversion plugin for Maya that can handle Skyrim's .nif files yet.
Ghogiel
^just export to F3 version if possible then use nifskope. Basically what I was doing before any updates to the max plugin happened
