Fallout Alternates One 60.1 [94]

Despite all that had been taking place, the Wastelands remained mostly the same with the same environment, existence of struggle and features such as strange disturbing odours, sounds and sights.

The Wanderer came a wandering through the semiarid bleakness of Saint Kindness, a named area that now had a dark irony to it. He made his quiet way past the destroyed ruins of an attempted settlement destroyed by a combination of challenges.

In his typical Wasteland drifter outfit he came upon a pack of killclaws, smaller cousins to deathclaws, that lived in larger packs. He walked amongst them and gave out large cubes of compressed meat, taking them from a big pocket in a seemingly impossible fashion.

He carefully tended to some wounds, admired some cubs as shown off by proud killclaw parents, and slept with the killclaws for a couple of hours in a large basement chamber a little filled with rain water.

It rained but thankfully with clean water coming from the north. The water was welcome, was necessary, and the killclaws sat beneath it with their guest that they took automatically on as a companion.

They quietly accepted his departure knowing that, in a sense, he would always be with them.

Saint Kindness had been a utopian dream of a very green and friendly suburban area but it had begun to fail years before Doomsday came along. Solid, stolid, welfare blocks had arisen of bleak concrete and cheap workers blocks that looked identical because they were identical. They were still there, some almost totally wrecked while others were in remarkably good condition.

A road convoy passed of gunbuggies, trucks, buses and other machines baring the logos of one of the Canterbury Commons Corporations. It was heavily armoured-armed and ready for trouble. Amongst the machines were refugee carriers of the Orderhood of Gaia.

The Wanderer stood out in the open but, though very alert, the guards did not see him but one small girl did and waved happily at him; he waved back and very soon she was happily eating a small snack. She gave one, each, to her mum and dad.

The Wanderer wandered into a group of brutal bandits, preparing to attack a group of refugees seeking out the CCSanctum though they did not know consciously that they were heading that way; then there were no brutal bandits, they were simply gone along with all of their gear.

Every so often the Wanderer paused and quietly meditated, with crossed legs, levitating about a metre above the ground as he did so.

Every so often he met a dying creature, an aged one unable to survive, a plant in the wrong place, or just a lifeform that was selected and that one vanished. A whole group of sick naked molerats did so but also a few ghouls caught out in the sunlight that they did not like. Despite being highly proof against radiation, ghouls were not so with UV as from bright sunshine and did not like to come out during the day.

High above did fly a flock of terrible wingclaws and then they landed around him for some mutual grooming, to take on some snacks and just to say hello. They saw from, from on high, and so he learned from them and gave them information.

Fallout Alternates One 60.2 [95]

The Wanderer fare welled the wingclaws, flying cousins to deathclaws and killclaws, and came upon a posse of tough Regulators, LawRangers and others hunting down a threat that had ripped apart a small outpost settlement. They accepted him automatically and the equipment-supplies that he gave them from his now evident big backpack. Somehow they failed to note, as sharply observant as they were, that much more came out of the backpack than seemingly could fit into it including tough eyebots, heavy stunpulseguns and carrycanisters of stuff.

The Wanderer went with them, on a newly appeared radhorse, to help find and deal with the 'threat' but, at the same time, the Wanderer travelled away from the posse as she now headed deeper into Saint Kindness. He went one way and she went another way but both were the Wanderer.

Thus it was with the Wanderer.

The threat was a great monstrous, distorted deathclaw that was the result of a twisted experiment gone wrong. It growled out its agony, its rage, its helplessness as it struggled to stand upright. The powerful stunpulseguns shot pulsebeams that painlessly caused it to lie down. The Wanderer soothed it, gave it fresh water from a canteen that just kept pouring out liquid again in a seemingly impossible fashion. More water was splashed over it as the Wanderer communicated with the suffering creature on a deep psychic-spiritual level. Then he fed it big lumps of nutritionally enhanced clonemeat.

Then the Wanderer was gone, almost as if he had never been there, and with him went the great big experimental deathclaw.

The woman Wanderer strode, in her hoodrobe, through ragged semiwilderness past smartconcrete buildings in surprisingly good condition. Except they were not inhabited anyway for she was getting close to a Deathlands zone. The more she paced, going past a tangled hill of shopping carts, the more destroyed warmachines she came upon; atomic battletanks, massive war robots, hovertanks, fighting troop carriers, battlemecha, vertabirds, jumpjets, many power armoured troopers and yet more. A great four atomic engined bomber was ploughed into the ground.

Though the damage, to a minority of warmachines, and power armour, was typical enough there were bizarre tiny pin pricks through all, even those that had been destroyed before the strange attack had taken place.

A zetan saucership lay smashed up against a double barrelled US Army atomic battletank. A big Soviet vertabird lay crumpled into a fallen US six limbed battlemecha. A US Marine Corps supersonic jumpjet had crashed into a building.

Out from the ground the upper half of the bizarre superweapon rose. It had fallen from high in the sky and had plunged about two thirds into the ground before the upper third had opened up to unleash horror death-destruction upon all those around it. It was large Greyyari superweapon utilised, normally, only by the Greynari; even the warrior Greytari never got to use such.

The Wanderer knew the language, frowned softly, and then took out a sparkling, shining, crystalic sphere with a glowing red energy flame inside it. With out hesitation she threw it straight at the device with incredible speed and power.

The clean, expanding, sphere of a Dbomb (disintegration bomb) expanded up and outwards and then flickered out of existence. Looking at it did no harm to the unprotected mortal eyes as atomic mushroom shaped explosions could but she was no mortal so it did not matter anyway. All that remained was a large, fairly smooth crater like the smaller one in Megaton.

Fallout Alternates One 60.3 [96]

Untouched, the Wanderer stood at the edge of the crater. Then she turned and went 'wandering' onward with out a backwards glance. Saint Kindness was soon becoming a greener, more attractive, place to dwell in as flora-fauna grew more richly there and people moved in. The bizarre weapon had continued to be semiactive and had kept the area around it being repellent to life, even tough radlife.

The Wanderer kept moving towards the Deathlands zone that was just beyond the further boundary of Saint Kindness. Yet she moved fairly slowly, carefully, as she passed through part of a crumbling smartmaterials made theme park.

There she rested in a large chamber with the company of two dancing bananabot type robots. She fixed them, replaced some parts and cleaned them while the two odd banana shaped machines gave her useful information on what had been happening in the area since Doomsday.

Fruitopia, the exotic little amusement theme park, was a strange little oddity in the Wastelands.

Fallout Alternates One 61.1 [97]

The Orderhood of Gaia taskteam followed the strange tracks but halted at strange sounds of a creature ahead of the; those noises were of pain, of sadness, of loss. Thus they moved carefully forward.

Professor Sandimont scrubbed more green toxic substance off the poor armoured slug like creature. Others sprayed solvent, breaking it down into harmless biodegradable fluids. The monster had turned out to be no monster at all but a victim of a most terrible entity; it had been heading towards WashingtonCC because it was drawn by a sense that in that direction lay assistance of some kind.

It had taken days to catch up to the big hornslug and more days to clean it with some hours of work still remaining, with its damaged horn now nicely cleaned and polished. They were in a long abandoned, fairly sturdy, smartconcrete chamber with machines lining one wall. What the place had been was unclear.

Sandimont spoke carefully. “We will need to take our wonderful new friend to the nearest OofG Outpost in the area.”

Lecturer Tangles was examining data taken from one of the many claptraps released out into the Wastelands by the Orderhood of Gaia. The Followers of Gaia had found the carefully packed up robots in a warehouse concealed by heaps of rubble. There had been other odd resources there also including more standard stuff; the place had become OofG Greenhope IV Outpost.

Tangles responded. “For that reason and also for disturbing data coming back in with returning claptraps, I also suggest that we must get a secured communique to one of the GaiaDaughters if not to GaiaMother herself.”

Sandimont nodded. “Telempathic communications, from the hornslug, suggests that it was somehow aware it would meet us and that we would assist it.”

The big hornslug made a series of soft grunting noises as if to agree with her words.

She spoke again. “Moglisss, the most accurate translation I can make of its name, was out in the Wastelands in service to a particular entity known as the Rainbowbaby and to one named Sarah Lyons through some other known as the Mysterious Stranger. It ran into something most evil that had come out of an area of Deathlands and perhaps even a worse area of Deadlands.”

The Orderhood of Gaia had given up on working in, or with, the Deathlands let alone the far worse Deadlands. They were the focus of dreadful superweapons whose existence did not always seem to make any real sense.

A big old NukaCola sign, with a string-bikini clad slimly voluptuous young looking woman, was close to them showing her holding up a very cold looking bottle of NukaCola Cherry. It was a puzzle, at first, how so many people had become addicted to the substance but government had learned the truth and about two months before Doomsday NukaCola had been banned. The ban had especially focused on the truly infamous NukaCola Quantum and other so called NukaCola Specials like it. NukaCola had seemed addictive because it 'was addictive'.

Fallout Alternates One 61.2 [98]

A young cadet field scientist spoke out. He had been examining some gunk. “Has traces of the same rad-toxins that NukaCola has in it, especially the NukaCola Specials.”

There were many who were convinced that ghoulification had come from a combination of elements, one being high radiation from 'dirty nukes' but another being the extensive drinking of NukaCola even after it was banned and being produced-sold by organised crime. Such as NukaCola Quantum were said to having led to the terrible glowinghouls that were more deadly than normal ghouls; the only good thing about glowinghouls was their rarity.

Sandimont might have been surprised when she was back in one of the OofG taken over VaultTekVaults (VTVs) captured and changed by her people under the wise, strong, guidance of GaiaMother. That was years ago before she did her very first away mission going out into the Wastelands.

Then she looked startled as she gave the bikini clad young woman a closer look. “That looks remarkably like GaiaMother herself who once had a far more mundane existence. Reads, at the bottom, that the young woman is a supermodel named Sarah Lions. A supermodel was a woman who got paid much money, who was very famous, for dressing in latest fashions and sometimes wearing scanty clothing.”

The cadet scientist looked scandalised. “GaiaMother could never been such a one! The similarity must be a coincidence.”

Sandimont had an odd feeling that this was not the case but she did not voice it openly lest doing so upset the other Followers of Gaia who were there. She did not mention that the 'Sarah Lyons', that the hornslug had mind communicated, was also identical to the young woman, of a supermodel, who was on the 3Dbillboard who was named Sarah Lions.

Soon they were heading towards the OofG Outpost with the hornslug sleeping peacefully in a semienclosed trailer that had been quickly assembled from parts.

Have begun the process of converting this topic, and other sources, into a novel; of course all copyrighted material, as owned by Bethesda and others, are being transformed so they become my copyrights. A few terms, such as Wastelands and ghouls, do not need to be changed as long as what they refer to is altered, which is what I am doing.

I am not sure if to continue to continue with this topic, anyway, or to start a new even more canon one though I find that hard to do, I must admit. Feedback could help my decision and help keep me more 'cannon' if I do write a new fanfic.

Have decided to finish Story One and see what happens from there! A new, more cannon, fanfic is going well but it will be time before it comes here or to my own story website or both!? I have decided that more editing is needed before any posts are actually made in future with any new fanfic.

Fallout Alternates Zero 14.1 [99]

The Rainbowbaby, along with many floating naked now individually named Sarah Lyons, came into the Gaialands. New areas appeared just out from the Central Gaialand that were in fact the Rainbowlands being not so new after all. Rainbow-entities, the Rainbowfamily, Rainbownions and many other lifeforms, quasilifeforms and neolifeforms came with them. Robots, androids, biosynths, synths and cyborgs were there. There were also living, quasiliving and neoliving rainbow entities of other kinds not strictly known as rainbow-entities.

SarahBos found herself, along with many others including Lyons Pride, being forced to withdraw into a large, well secured, sector of the CCCitadel. Five superdoppelgangers had been caught being copies of high ranking Followers of Steel but there had been more doppelgangers captured that had been disguised as members of the new elite Elders' Bodyguards. Then it came to SarahBos that all of the new Elders' Bodyguards were doppelgangers except for a few superdoppelgangers leading them. So were the Elders now all superdoppelgangers?

Having captured the CCCitadel cable-teleport station, SarahBos began sending off refugees to there. The CCCitadel settlement had become a carefully guarded sanctuary for many leaving the growing madness of the CCCitadel proper. SarahBos took it under her 'wing' as Marshal SarahBos.

SarahAta was drawn to depart from Megaton with her Lyons Valiant and many FEARIUs. She did so with much data but left many resources behind for the newly arisen SarahFray. SarahFray was linked with SarahHero and others emerging like her, as a new thirteen. They would be more independent operationally than the original thirteen who would start to work more closely together. SarahAta Lyons was soon in Central Gaialand along with those that had gone with her.

GaiaUniversity was created in the still slowly steadily expanding Central Gaialand. FEARIUs began enrolling as students including robots and androids.

Reilly's Rangers create a secondary base in the LSComplex in the CCSanctum but very soon it is the central base with Reilly herself becoming the first Marshal of an ever expanding Reilly's Rangers Regiment. Reilly's Rangers are becoming better known, generally, as the Special Field Rangers while its core elite platoons continue to be called Reilly's Rangers.

SarahPrime Lyons first speaks openly of a coming war based on dealing with the GreatDevouring in South America. A very large taskforce is to be soon sent to reinforce Field Marshal Fleet Admiral's efforts there; it will include many FEARIUs and one new SL Superclone to lead them.

The Republic of Dave is invaded by a very annoying naked molerat who likes to steal shiny things. President Dave holds an emergency meeting in which, of course, no real decisions are made and nothing is resolved. Six year old Nancy befriends the molerat and tames him into not stealing shiny things. She gains a tin medal, and a singe emergency dollar, from the President himself.

The Wastelands Ovengers send out their first Team13 and it fights a group of rogue supermutants, destroying them. They learned that the supermutants were enhanced, altered, by one of the GreatOnes being the GreatFlesh. Why it did so remains a mystery but the supermutants were beyond the influence of the GreatBalancing to change though not of the Rainbowbaby.

Fallout Alternates Zero 14.2 [100]

Rogue Teletubbies are first spotted in the Wastelands near the settlement of Bigtown that is very close to the Lamplight Caverns Reserve and the entrance to the Lamplight Caverns of Lamplight Mountain being also close to Lamplight Lake into which flows Lamplight River after it comes from the big Lamplight Falls waterfall and lets not forget the Lamplight Forest or..."

Strange whisper-stories speak of the unnaturally long childhoods of children living in the Lamplight Caverns along with their enhanced physical powers. It is said they have robots and androids with them along with an experimental supercomputer looking after them. When the children suddenly start getting bigger they are, in theory, exiled to Bigtown; in practice the Lamplighters and Bigtowners have an outpost in the Lamplight Reserve where they meet. Bigtowners continue to live extended lives but not as extended as the Lamplighters. Puzzle is that new baby Lamplighters appear every so often but where from and how?

A Canterbury Commons citizen is exiled for petty criminal activity and reveals that the Canterbury Commons Traders have a mystery source of PreDoomsday type tradegoods that appear to come out of the ground that they pay for with resources gained from the Wastelands. He knows little more than that. Very soon after revealing the secret, while drunk in a bar in RivetCity, the man is found to have been killed under suspicious circumstances.
