Fallout Alternates One 18.2 [21]

Sarah001 beamed happily. “First Encounter Assault Recon Infiltrator Cloakers, shapeshifting cousins out in the Wastelands. There are roughly 100 FEARICs including specialist elements. They are all shapeshifters, as we all are, but can also cloak themselves to be invisible or phantomic or illusionary or even solid illusionary if they have to. Our androids number around 300 and are known as Fast Encounter Assault Recon Infiltrator Droids, FEARIDs. Our robots number around 500 and are known as Fast Encounter Assault Recon Robots, FEARIRs. Our cyborgs number about 100, including specialist units, and are known as Fast Encounter Recon Borgs, FEARIBs. Given other units, other specialist elements, plus specials, there are roughly 2,100 FEARIUs or First Encounter Recon Infiltration Units.”

Plus specials, other specialist elements? 2,100 FEARIUs? Just what did that mean?

Sarah001 beamed some more. “Now you can be at peace, relaxed, with the assurance that all is well and nothing could possibly be amiss, nothing at all!”

Sarah smiled and gave her clone-daughter another hug along with a kiss on each of her smooth, warm, cheeks. Of course she knew that Sarah001, and the others like her, were trying to hide something from her that was likely to be 'very amiss'.

Fallout Alternates One 19.1 [22]

At Luna the great Greyyari saucership was heavily isolated, secured, and then began the project of removing the huge black spike from it, drawing it slowly carefully out as the disturbingly unnatural vessel then visibly began to repair itself. The effort was necessary as the Federat scientists had soon realised that a subtle, but dangerous, instability was being caused by the two materials being together. When separated they would be parted. Somehow, in some subtle fashion, thirteen sphere-entities were assisting to keep the operation smooth and safe but it was still a tricky process.

In the LSComplex SafeVault 13-9/9 had expanded downwards, and sideways away from the other safevaults. It had done so slowly enough to allow people, robots, androids, animals to get out of the way. Now there were exposed thirteen more big alcoves being colour coded with nine coppery, three silvery and one golden. Three coppery ones had special supplies for the shaperbeasts-shapernoids. Three coppery ones had general equipment-supplies for the whole complex. The last three had special equipment-supplies for the FEARIUs, as they were now known with all of their types. The three silvery ones were each with three thirteens of status-capsules with XFIA, paramilitary, military, other civil government, corporate, university and other PreDoomsday folk. Yet it was the three times thirteen capsules, in the golden alcove, that was of the biggest surprise. Then there were the sealed up thirteen doors, being one golden, three silvery and nine copperish which appeared fairly small, and unobtrusive, when compared to the safevault blast-doors and alcoves, especially the bigger ones.

Raiders kept coming in from the ocean, each kind causing big troubles in its own way but also causing local factions to combine against them, in odd alliances, for reasons of survival.

The ruthless Enclavers' advance, towards Washington CC, slowed due to running into very harsh local environmental conditions and troubles with local factions waging guerrilla war against them. A force of veteran Minutemen showed up, along with Mercenary Guild mercenaries, hired by unknown factions, to assist.

Regulators, paramilitary forces dealing with a special list of crimes, were busy attempting to solve the vanishings of whole settlements of small, isolated, kinds. As they struggled to find answers they were soon discovering that other folks were vanishing but also other kinds of creatures including such as supermutants and ghouls; some might think the last was good news but the very experienced Regulators knew better; reports of increased 'flying-saucer' activity did not please especially as they appeared to be not of the dangerous zetans but of the lethal 'Greys'.

3Dog, the head DJ of Galaxy 3DRadio, begged people to stop sending him any more toasters because it had only been a joke. Still, the Galaxy 3DRadio Tower Settlement was starting to repair, refurbish, and trade those toasters with some PostDoomsday currencies going to the radio station.

In LifeVault-101, Jasmine Armstrong turned 18 years of age as her father gave her a .22LR bolt-action rifle as a gift that she had to use secretly in private. She was living in the isolated outer demivault that was outside of the vault proper; it was large but small compared to the main vault and had only a few 100s of people. It had become quarantined after vaultfolk had departed and then returned, then it had continued with some people being allowed into the LifeVault.

The Subwayers were slowly, steadily, expanding through the old public subway networks of the area; they were a mixed people of peoples such as ghoulmans, friendly supermutants, escaped androids, animans and even humans.

The frequency, and number, of paranormal events seemed to be increasing in the area be they appearances of ghosts, the rise of creatures exotic even by Wastelands standards and the rise, or increase, of psyker powers in people. Ghostly battles were witnessed, being replays of old conflicts, dragons were sighted briefly, a powerful bigfoot scared some tough gangers witless and bizarre clockwork robots were seen in a big abandoned hospital complex by scavengers while a number of jet-airliners, known to have crash sites in the area, were spotted flying overhead. Tenpenny Towers suffered even more with one haunted apartment.

The peaceful, wise, superhuman behemoth Uncle Leo led a growing following across the Wastelands as they sought a safe, peaceful, place to seek enlightenment in. For Uncle Leo had found the works of Buddha, Jesus and other such people before deciding on a new spiritual path as interpreted by him.

The strange, aggressive, figures of the Mechanicist and the Antagonizer, first appeared to fight each other and to cause troubles to the traders-trading based settlement of CanterburyCommons.

Fallout Alternates One 20.1 [23]

What could be said about the thirty-nine entities in the golden alcove, each in its own special status-capsule. The first thirteen were formerly dead Orderhood of Steel fighting heroes, men and women, who died fighting or by other Wastelands causes or just of old age. The second thirteen were Orderhood of Steel non fighters who had died in the same ways as the fighters had, including fighting. Then the last thirteen were unusual individuals, of the Orderhood, who were harder to define with some of them being at the very edges of the OofS. Their skills, experience, special abilities would be most welcome and needed by those in the complex.

The 'resurrectees' took their return much more easily, as they climbed out of their capsules, than did many of the Orderhood people who met them. Yet, in the end, the returnees were welcomed back positively. Sarah was there to greet her formerly dead mother, knowing somehow this really was her, and they hugged. Reyna had briefly led the Lyons Pride herself until it was realised she was much better at solo infiltration missions; after giving birth to three girls, and a boy, with Owen Lyons she had become pregnant, with triplets, with another man. The old marriage had not survived this, and other stresses, so Reyna had become divorced from Owen. Her status, in the Orderhood was damaged but then destroyed when it was learned that the father, of the triplets, was one of the enemy Enclavers. Reyna ended up joining the Sisterhood of Steel who were the only ones who wanted her but she vanished from there, soon after, until her body was found in the semiruins of Bethesda Plaza of Washington CC; her death had remained a mystery.

Reyna looked around at the many OofS people there and then back at Sarah. “You have always been good to me and were so even after I was declared a traitor by many of my comrades while your father did nothing to protect me.”

Sarah frowned softly. “I always did suspect far more was going on then the two of you ever let on, mum. It did not surprise me to learn that you were a former Enclaver, a rebel who departed after the new clones began to take over the Enclaven. That is you fought in the short lived, but very brutal, Enclaven Civil War that took place in the Alaskian Enclave. You fled with a large convoy of survivors but split from them, with some others, when you realised that they were just as bad as the clones though in their own way.”

The rejuvenated other woman, looking younger than she had when Sarah had seen her many years ago. She spoke with a tone of surprise. “You have not called me 'mum' since you were a child and started falling under the strong influence of your father as did Alice, Terry and Brandon. Alice, especially, did so until she began to rebel against his over controlling nature; then he changed for the better but too late for our marriage. If I had not met my first husband, who was supposedly dead, and had three children with him, perhaps the marriage would have survived.”

Sarah snorted softly. “I became leader of the Lyons Pride partly to be away from dad's controlling ways; Terry turned away from being a fighter, to become a scientist, for partly the same reason. Alice came to openly question some of his decisions. Dad blamed your influence for all of this. Only Brandon escaped his anger because Brandon became a reflection of him, a favoured child. Only after a while did dad improve and the rifts began really to heal. He actually said 'sorry' to all of us after your dead body was found.”

Reyna looked astonished but then she sighed. “Owen was the man who shot me dead but only after something dark entered my body, corrupted me; I became trapped, by the malignant entity, in my own body. My body began to age rapidly, to decay. It was a merciful killing and a stranger, with Owen, destroyed the dark entity using some kind of floating crystal sphere thing. The man, dressed like a 1940s American movie private detective, told me that I would return one day to have a second chance; except I suspected even then that he was far from being just a man. Owen deferred to him, greatly, which is not something that he normally does.”

Sarah nodded, frowning softly. “That would explain some of the odd things that I have heard.”

Sarah001 stood there, after flickering into position with amazing speed. She gave Reyna an open curious look, obviously noting that she had much in common with her beloved Sarah. Reyna looked right back and Sarah001 blushed softly which obviously took Reyna by surprise.

Sarah smiled warmly at Sarah001. “This is my beautiful clone-daughter, and FEARIO, Sarah001; she is named after me.”

Sarah001 smiled. “Major Mum is our wondrous commander and clone-mother. We serve her, along with one other who will not be named; she is also wondrous. We have been busy with a grand, important, project that is now completed. The very first of the new clone-children are even now starting to exist in biowombs and in the wombs of a few of our women. Important information has come to us from the Wastelands that has also been provided to Alice. A large supermutant force has attacked the Enclaver force roughly to the north of here. It consists of all known types of supermutants, mutthounds, zyclops, stormrobots but also flying creatures known as wingclops that are in some ways like zyclops. There are big behemoths with the supermutants and they have much armour along with very big weapons. Wingclops have joined the supermutant forces attacking both us here, in the LSComplex and the CCCitadel. Except that we suspect strongly now that the supermutant forces are not what they appear to be, that they are differently shapeformed biosynths or perhaps a mixture of biosynths and the real thing."

Fallout Alternates One 20.2 [24]

Sarah smiled at her clone-daughter. “Thank you, Submajor Daughter! This my mother, your grandmother.”

Reyna spoke. “It is good to have another grandchild.”

Sarah001 smiled at Reyna. “You have over 1,000 new grandchildren.” Then she turned back to Sarah. “Major Sarah Mum, you wanted to see me.”

Reyna looked astonished but then laughed, just a little nervously.

Sarah nodded. “I have some questions to ask you based on what you said about the various types of FEARIUs and the other details of them.”

Sarah001 nodded. “Major Sarah Mum, I will do my best but not all information is held by myself thanks to security regulations and protocols.”

Sarah smiled some more. “We will take about it later, in my enlarged office. For now, though, we need to discuss some general operational matters. When dealing with Marshal Alice Lyons, I will be the liaison for the FEARIUs. My sister is becoming most concerned that the FEARIUs have held back valuable resources, have held back too many secrets, from the Orderhood of Steel. I do not share her concerns.”

Sarah001 nodded. “Major Sarah Mum, you will make an excellent liaison for us. My people are now taking the special equipment-supplies that were materialised for us by the sphere-entities. Or at least that is what we FEARIUs think is happening.”

Which was when the troubles began for some Orderhood of Steel people wanted to both examine the FEARIU directed equipment-supplies and claim at least half of it. Steel Sage Swanson was behind the foolishness, standing at the site of the three copperish alcoves and protesting. He had come from the CCCitadel, through the cable-teleport network-systems, along with some of his followers.

Sarah strode up to him and pushed him backwards with a firm shove of her right hand. “Not within your jurisdiction or authority! I doubt my father sent you here which indicates that one of the hardliner factions wanted you here; unless, that is, they just wanted to get you out of the CCCitadel because of your constant trouble making.”

Behind her the FEARIUs were making the special equipment-supplies vanish away with surprising speed and efficiency.

He scowled. “People are starting to suspect that your true loyalties have shifted to these clones and away from the OofS. Amongst them are those of the Elders Council. Your father will not be able to protect you for ever unless he wants to also fall under suspicion.”

Sarah laughed softly. “You do not know what you are meddling with, fool! I doubt that the special equipment-supplies needed by the FEARIUs would be useful to us. Also the FEARIUs have already shared a large amount of highly useful data with people here at the LSComplex, including scientists of the Sages of Steel. Their people have assisted in the upgrading of OofS technologies and in other ways. What are you really after, Swanson? You only do anything if you are going to benefit personally.”

At that Swanson scowled hatefully at her before he turned and strode away with his followers following him rapidly.

Fallout Alternates One 21.1 [25]

The globe shaped Solar Federate Spacenavy Battlecruiser, the SFSS Enterprise II, decelerated even as it spat its first smartmissiles, and smartdrones, at the Greynari saucership threatening the great clump of JunkSlum Texaparadiso. The saucership's force fields flickered as the smartmissiles exploded against them and smartdrones attacked, shooting pulselaser-cannons and smaller missiles. A smartdrone exploded, struck by a pulsating pulsebeam from a saucership bulge of an alien type turret. Then a smartmissile got through, the enemy force fields that opened for the pulsebeam to get through, and blew up a great chunk of the saucer. The AI-core jettisoned safely from the smartmissile to be picked up by a smartdrone that was soon taking the AI-core back to the battlecruiser.

The SFSS Enterprise II was joined by two destroyers, smaller than the battlecruiser but still large, but also a small battlecarrier along with a larger battlefreighter, that is an armoured-armed freighter. The destroyers spread out, being also globe shaped, and began firing off smartmissiles and not so smart missiles.

The Greynari saucership, already repairing itself, retreated rapidly and was soon vanished into hyperspace with a flash of energies. One was never sure what the Greynari would do but they tended to retreat if alone and badly damaged, which made sense to human thinking. Yet, at other times, they did the opposite and were destroyed.

Captain Jane T Kirk communicated with the President of the Independent Spacers Republic of Texaparadiso. "Greetings on behalf of the Solar Federation. I am Captain Kirk sent to arrange for your people, inclusive of your JunkSlum, to make your way to Luna to seek refuge from a great threat. The Solar Federation welcomes your positive cooperation in becoming citizens and will provide you with assistance in the form of military protection and resources; of course you will be expected to pay a fair level of taxes in due time. This is a very good offer. We would prepare Texaparadiso for the journey and later on for Lunar Orbital existence. This is a very generous offer."

The President was clearly not happy, his voice heavy with Texaparadiso accent. "President Arnold Snade speaking; now why would we trust you or go along with you offer to take us away from our happy existence?"

Captain Jane T Kirk snorted softly but then spoke calmly. "Firstly, because your existence is far from happy. Secondly, because the coming threat is the one feared by all spacers since Doomsday. Thirdly, because we will be forced to destroy you, if you do not cooperate, to stop you from becoming fodder for the great threat, to save your people from a fate worse than death at the hands of the Greynari."

The response came at once. "Why we would be extremely happy to take you up on your offer. I hope that battlefreighter of yours is full of useful resources because we are going to need all of it to get this great heap safely to Luna. Good news is that hidden at our core is something you will be surprised at; yes, it is a big ancient stone globe thing from which we have been taking resources, a trickle but mighty handy, from. Now, there are vessels that we need to meet with, ones sent out to scavenge space junk, ones coming from other JunkSlums."

Sorry, extended this episode out to two posts.

Fallout Alternates One 21.2 [26]

Kirk sighed softly again. "If you are hoping for the Spacestationship Goldenfreya to come to your rescue, please note they are now part of the effort to rescue JunkSlums and Spacestationships. The people, of the Goldenfreya warned us about you, President Snade, and your autocratic, corrupt, hold over your people. Surrender or be boarded. The battlecarrier you see has more than enough power armoured spacetroopers to deal with your second rate defences and corrupted, incompetent, republican guard. We have also made prior contact with the rebels, of your 'republic' and will let them have you if you do not surrender."

Snade responded quickly. "Then I accept your wonderful offer that I clearly can not refuse."

The captain nodded to herself, knowing fully well that Snade was going to be executed even if he did surrender, such were the terrible crimes that he was personally responsible for let alone those that he had condoned. Also she had lied about the Spacestationship Goldenfreya but he would not know that until it was far too late. Nor was the real threat represented by any of the Greyyari but by something far more 'interesting'.

Well at least the terrible reign of the Snade Dynasty had been ended.

Which was when a softly sparkling shimmering flash of energies expanded outwards from, and through, the JunkSlum and engulfed the Solar Federation vessels.

When Kirk became fully aware again the JunkSlum could no longer really be called such a name being a neat, well designed and made, 3D structure almost spherical in shape.

As for all of the Federation ships, they were all enhanced, rejuvenated as new, but so were those on board including Kirk herself. There had been other changes and new technologies had been added to the SFSS Enterprise II designed to help save more of the JunkSlummers and others out in space.

The coming threat turned out to be even worse than the Federation, and others, had feared. The President, and Federation Council of Ministers, had to be warned as soon as possible but Kirk dared not send any radio signals, not even heavily coded ones. The Spacestationship Goldenfreya was likely in the area and more Greyyari could appear at any moment.

Fallout Alternates One 22.1 [27]

Sarah Lyons walked through the magical quasiroman quasimedieval walled city, the Imperial Capital City of Imperiarna, of the super virtual reality gameworld of Tamriel. It was only a introduction to the SVR Game of the Elder Scrolls. With her went Steel Troopers, also in quasimedieval gear or other gear, some being Lyons Pride or FEARIOs but there were others there. All of them were actually lying diagonally in SVR-capsules, in a newly found chamber behind one of the silver doors in SafeVault 13-9/9. Actually a hallway had led from the doorway to the chamber with three formations each of thirteen SVR-capsules, interesting vending-machines, displays in display cabinets along with other features linked to the game and gameworld.

They were in a markets with temporary open fronted tents, semipermanent stalls and permanent shops in actual buildings. Goods were being bought and sold, food was cooking, a host of smells filled the air along with sounds competing for noses and ears.

Most folks were unarmed commoners of working or middle classes though there was a sprinkling of Civil Guardsmen, Sheriff's Constables, mercenaries and even some Septim Imperial Legionaries. Less common were fancier dressed nobles, guild elite folk, mages in robes, battlemages in armour, gladiators showing off their scars, artisans with their special gear and even poor beggars.

While the majority of folks were human, and the majority of them were white Cyrodilins, there were other human races, orcs, lizardfolk, catfolk, Mer type elves and even less common types of folk.

Horses drew omnibuses along the packed dirt streets or cabs or even omnitrams along rails. A few rode horses or ponies while both kinds of animals drew carts, carriages, wagons, delivery vehicles and even a couple of stagecoaches. There were a very few magical vehicles, as designed and made by artificers, and a sprinkling of other magical devices such as weapons, armour, wands and staffs but also such as tools, lamps and even coils of rope.

It was all amazingly realistic and yet all the True Player Characters, TPCs, could ultimately 'sense' that it was not real. Why were they there? Because Sarah Lyons had a 'hunch', a gut feeling, that there was something important there that needed to be discovered. There was also just curiosity and a desire to experience such amazing PreDoomsday technologies.

Then it was that she saw the partly burned down shop and the remaining signs, part destroyed, on its front. There was something very familiar about the words and so it was that she realised that they were, in fact, some kind of code; there was a complete message hidden in those words.

Submajor Sarah001 spoke. "This is most amazingly realistic but there is danger here, real danger, one can sense it. Perhaps the NPCs (Non Player Characters) detect it for many of them are armed. Each of us has come with three 'lives' but what happens after any of us dies three times."

Sarah smiled. "Then that one is kicked out of the game and must start its main quests, side quests and constant quests from the start though one can obtain extra lives through various means. I take it that you noted the coded message!"

Fallout Alternates One 22.2 [28]

Walter Bishop, who was costumed as an arcane mage of the Mages Guild and who called himself Gandalf the Grey, was very happy with being there. "Instructions to lead us to another part of this interesting small city."

Sarah001 frowned softly at Walter, he having inadvertently stolen her chance to impress her clone-mother. "Yes, we must find an abandoned temple, long sealed up by the priests and priestesses of the 13 Divines. We follow this street, to where it intersects a mall closed to anything but foot traffic. There we turn left and continue to the end of the mall. The shops become abandoned, boarded up, and at the very end of that mall is the temple that is said to be cursed. Once a fallen god was worshipped in it, a great monstrous thing that swallowed anything living and digested it slowly inside itself. One could see such life being digested but they were at peace."

Walter, realising he had accidentally stepped on the FEARIO's feelings, smiled at her. "Very well worked out, wonderful clone-daughter of Sarah. I suggest that the creature, as represented in the abandoned temple, is the same type of entity as is the one that was observed by the shaperbeast cubs. That is if there is just one of them. This is, of course, no coincidence just as you have been led here, Major Sarah Lyons, is not one."

Sarah smiled warmly at Sarah001 for a short moment. "Then let us go there after we have had a short break at a local eatery of some kind."

So it was that they consumed quasimedieval food, and drink, at a local inn while two women bards played fine ballads. Their names were Gimon and Sarfunkel, the duo of singers being popular in the city. Gimon played a harp and Sarfunkel played a lute.

After their repast, they set out again but when they reached the mall the abandoned shops were no long so, being in good condition and busy, while the temple had vanished to be replaced by a small garden park dedicated to the Great Divinity of the 13 Divines. It was most odd an occurrence and it was no coincidence or accident, Sarah was somehow sure of it.
