And if you mean those followers like Adoring Fan, murderers from DB, mage apprentices or knights of the nine (if you have the expansion) they also don't have horses. I'd ask for a mod that gives people 4 arms, so they can use a 2h weapon + shield and still have one hand left to cast with. Also you can quad wield 1h weapons and dual wield 2h weapons.
