Alien Invasion

Ok, this thread is about the sci-fi concept of Alien Invasion. What´s your favorite style of attack upon humanity?

My favourite is War of the worlds style, they come all of a sudden and kick our a**. And humans would lose at the end, although we are persistant little buggers we would be eradicated, either due to our technological limitations or if we start using nuclear weaponry to take the aliens out destroying ourselves in the process. And if a war with aliens ever start I think we will cause it, what we don't understand, we kill it so we can examine it. Edited December 2, 2011 by Werne

Even idea of winning alien invasion at this point is silly.

Civilization whit technology to travel from star to star or maby even in galaxy's will be so much advanced that we wont even see it comming.

There wont be battle ship's, or ufo's. If aliens will wana destroy us they will send here a small probe about size of AA battery that will release deadly flu virus that only attacks humans and in less than year we will be less than 1% of current population.

I would like a Independence day type invasion since it would completely unite humanity.

 

I personally think the idea of a alien invasion is a bit silly in general, but my other posts cover that.

The best way to eliminate humans would be a fast acting lethal virus, next thing you know billions are dead before anyone knows what the hell is going on. It would be very easy for some potential aliens to kill us all. If they wanted to take the planet without needless destruction, that is how it would be done, and chances are nobody would even suspect a presence. Release a virus, and sit back and wait. Humans are already capable of creating such a virus in a lab, then certainly something 100s or 1000s of years more advanced would be able to do it. They got a virus in a lab right now, its called Ebola, and if someone weaponized the strain it would be 99% lethal, you die in 2 days. Very painful death too, you bleed to death out of every pore of your skin, nose, eyes, ear, etc.

 

A forceful invasion would just result in nuclear weapons being used by humans, whether they were effective or not, and that would defeat the purpose of taking over the planet, just to get a nuked planet when the dust settles.

So it´s the Shadow virus (from Babylon 5) that we need to worry about. A virus engineered by a species far more ancient than ours.

i like to believe that humans are more that we give ourselves credit for, alien-wise

 

after all, we are the baddest things we KNOW about, we got nukes, we got guns, we are _extremely_ aggressive. the aliens would be up against quite a foe. it would be no quick dance, im sure of that.

Agreed, this would be my number one type of alien invasion ... and hot on it's heels would be the "V" tv series type.

The alien invasion might be transdimensional, not interplanetary, so we might face enemies we are more able to deal with. Indeed the invasion could be taking advantage of a 'rift' caused not by the invaders such as the aliens in the movie the 'Mist'.

 

What if two forces invaded and started fighting each other, being more concerned about each other than us humans?

 

What if one alien force invaded and alien enemies of theirs assisted humanity?

in any case of alien invasion where aliens act as an agressor cassualties will be 99.9% of all population, rest 0.1% will be nutjobs that will learn how to fight back or will poses some sort of immunity to said alien weapons. Considering that at the moment humans are most ruthless and dangerous speceis on the planet id say we got some bad surprices for dem aliens.

 

But then again there could be whole different aproach.

 

Lets say aliens find us first -->

They engineer perfect human male / female androids -->

Send em to earch to act as aliens -->

Said androids seduce male/female humans and will become husband /wife for them -->

since they cant have babies in 80 years there wont be a human left on a planet, especially if they also use multiple attacks strategy and combine sayd approach whit virus + alien terorism + something else like meteor shower on planetary scale.

 

At this moment evrything indicates that humans will loose. They got tech advantage we dont. so we must have an advantage that they do not poses. Numbers maby ? or something. Whatever it may be we need it otherwise no game.

 

PS: Considering that aliens would be far more advanced they most likely wont be hunter type aliens like in predator movies. So if we wont have tech advantage we will be Predators killing em in the dark whit the shiv ;D
