rodeowearden
Hi, I am having a slight issue with a mod that I am hoping to get some help with. I have done a fair amount of research and am having trouble locating an answer. I am not new to installing mods, but very new to creating them. I am following the NCCS companion creation guide as closely as I can, just so I can learn the basics. Creating companions and getting them into the world is something I feel fairly comfortable with. My end goal here was to create a female companion that used theSkinny-6 body type and a hairstyle from Beauty Pack Plus, specifically the "Aerith" hairstyle. Following the instructions was simple enough. The beauty pack hairs were in a bsa archive, but I figured out how to extract the files I needed and how to store them in the respective meshes and textures folders for easy reference for my character. I also followed the instructions to create a custom race for my companion. However, when I tried to add the hairstyle, I ended up with a problem. The GECK only gives me an option to reference one mesh and one texture for hairstyle, but the Aerith hairstyle I want has several texture files. And when I try to just pick one texture to use, I either end up with this: Edit: Image link removed, see attachments Or this: Edit: Image link removed, see attachments I ended up losing my patience with it yesterday and walked away. But I hate to give up on something. I'm usually really good at figuring this stuff out. I'm hoping that somewhere here has had a similar issue that can offer some advice. I apologize if this topic has been done to death before, I had a little trouble locating a thread that addressed this specific issue. Thanks for your help!~RodeoWearden
Quetzlsacatanango
Just put in the "main" texture file, it picks up the others based on the file name I believe.

Balrahn
I figured I'd put this here and hope for a response instead of posting a new thread with another same topic. I'm having this exact same problem as RodeoWearden did in the image with FPS 38. This problem occurs to me every single time I start my own custom race after I've applied the custom hairs in GECK. This problem only happens with hairs... I place the appropriate mesh (,nif) and texture (.dds) in the corresponding directory which is why I don't understand why I am getting this texture problem. This doesn't happen to all the custom hairs I have added but nearly all of them and it always seems to be the very same hair models that I happen to like... I've tried different methods. Like for example: Today... I added one custom hair, applied it to my custom race then saved it in GECK. It actually came out like it's supposed to. By the time I added more custom hairs then save my progress, that very first custom hair I added with the proper textures now has the crappy textures along with the rest of the hairs I've added. I've also moved them from my custom race folder to the default (characters/hair) directory, but I'm more than certain that isn't the problem. I then thought that maybe it was caused by renaming the .nif and .dds files to something more simple. So I went ahead and just removed the renamed files and replaced them with the original named files and corrected the directory path in Hairs window and then added them on my custom race through Face Data. That also do jack... Then I figured it was maybe a GECK bug... Like a hit or miss? At this point I don't know what it could be and it's gotten me very frustrated. I'm going to keep trying and see what I can do. I refuse to go back to vanilla. Can't I just have a good hair day? >.> If anyone knows what I might be doing wrong or the cause of this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. JimboUK
The filepaths and filenames for the textures are in the NIFs, if you start moving textures or renaming them then things will start to go wrong. Open them in Nifscope and check the filepaths and names... http://i.imgur.com/PiZ7r.jpg
luthienanarion
Don't forget to delete your extracted hair meshes so that they the game reads them from the BSA. Hair must always be in a BSA in New Vegas.
