Ethnic Character Creation help/advice needed.

Hey there. I've been trying to make a Middle Eastern/Indian female character for a while now with no success. They always end up looking odd, like a white person just with dark skin. Does anyone have any ideas/advice, for making an attractive ethnic woman of such descent? I wouldn't even mind a really good preset, I just haven't found one yet. At least with a preset I could just tweak it to my liking.(Also, has anyone made anything comparable to a Bindi cosmetic? Or those red tribal tattoos they use for weddings? If not its okay. That would be an awesome mod for this but its not necessary.)

Ultimately it comes down to you, yourself and your skill and eye for making faces.

 

The character editor is extremely versatile and I believe capable of most anything.

 

Make big, exaggerated changes first, then refine details. Distinguishing your character's facial structures from Nate's stupid face is probably the most important thing.

1. Well, I work with several Indians (the south asian kind), and in fact I'm currently the only European in the room. Personally I find that a lot of Indians (the south Asian kind) look almost caucasian anyway, just with a different skin tone. The brown eumelanin (skin pigment) gene is a strictly European mutation, the rest of the world never got it (except if they interbred with someone of European descent.) Unfortunately, that's not really an option though.

 

Some of them may or may not have wider noses and faces, but other than that, I'm seriously drawing blanks.

 

I mean, look at Gandhi for example. He could just as well be European.

 

You also have to realize that India is a bloody huge place, and it used to be a lot of different countries until the English got into the act. Skin tone varies A LOT from pretty white up in Kashmir to African kinda black by the time you get to the southern tip, e.g., the Tamils in Tamil Nadu. And phenotypes are also all over the place.

 

(Incidentally, so does their cuisine. It ranges from mild but aromatic kinda spices up nort in Kashmir, to hotter than Satan's bunghole after a curry nigt down at ths southern tip. But I digress.)

 

So just make pretty much any face and call it Indian and you'll be fine. As I was saying, maybe give the males a wide nose, but that's about it.

 

 

2. Middle East is also a very wide place. Probably the easiest are the western Iranians, most of which actually look almost the same as Europeans. Again, with a slightly different skin tint, but I don't think you can do that in the game.

 

I mean, look at Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for example.

If your struggling, maybe it'd help if you had some reference images of people with this ethnicity to draw from. As TrickyVein said, start big rather than focus on one aspect, and then you can focus on individual features. Bear in mind that even in the vanilla game, Bethesda seem to be really hit and miss regarding accurately portraying the likeness of anyone who isn't caucasian... mind you, the white people look decidedly off sometimes.
