As the title says:

I have windows 10 (I know, I shouldn't have), and I'm thinking about installing a dual boot (buy a windows 7 license) in order to avoid the 4064 vram limit.

But I have a very heavy modded game, with a lot of customized ESP to make it stable, and I absolutely don't want to reinstall it as I spent a lifetime to build it. So my question is : is it possible to install a dual boot without reinstalling completly skyrim?

Could you explain this VRAM limitation to me? I'm not aware of this, and am fairly interested to get to know more. Sources wouldn't be bad either. Thanks.

Sources? Absolutely everywhere on the net, beginning with Boris Vorontsov. In fact, windows 10 (as windows 8 before it) limit the dx9 usage at 4064 VRAM. Just go with "4064 vram limit" on google, and you'll see plenty of sources...

reinstall the game... which is exactly what I want to avoid... unless you're saying : reinstalling the core, vanilla base and "move" your old data folder into the new game. But reinstalling everything? Every mod? From scratch?

well, I guess I'll stay with my 4064 limit then...

You don't need to reinstall the game install steam on win7 rename the library on win10 with something else then crate a new folder with the original name of you steam library set the steam from win7 library on the new folder then quit steam delete the folder you just made and rename the original library with it's original game re open steam go to library skyrim click on install it will detect skyrim it will try do re download some files close steam and reopen it without letting it download the stuff and you will be able to play on win7.

ahah! once again, project579, you're telling me good news... that's the same trick than the one you explained me on my previous topic, right? I'll maybe try that... so : install steam on win 7. Rename the library from steamwin10 to whatever... create new folder with original steamwin10 name and place the steamwin7 library in it... quit steam... but I don't follow from now : delete the folder I just made? which one? the only new folder I made is the steamwin7 library, right?
