Nifskope Alpha issue

Wolfius

Recommended Posts

I have a strange issue in Nifskope - I tried to modify some armor nifs by adding transparent textures to them. Everything works just fine... when I modify oblivion nifs. The problem is that every time I try to add NiAlpha fo Skyrim nif it does put it on the block list but on the last place (not where I want it to be) and I can't do anything about it.

I've tried some copy/paste block things but it doesn't work (and once again - it does work just fine for oblivion meshes). I have the latest 1.1.0-rc1 version which is said to support skyrim nifs and as I've checked nifs modified by others are shown properly on the block list. (so it's seems like I'm doing something wrong, or something is messed up on my system?).

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks for every comprehensive answer.

(sorry for my poor english)

Well I know where it should go, the only problem is that nifskope doesn't allow me to put it there for any skyrim nif file - it places the alpha property at the end of the list (but again - only for skyrim files, oblivion files work fine).

Same here with me I've tried various versions of nifskope (on some versions I cannot "render" textures but I have finally found one that does that nifskope-1.1.0-rc1) but I cannot put alpha property block in right position even if its moved with command CTRLup or down it reappears after loading on last position.

Appreciate any help thanks.

I think everyone is not understanding the concept of how to insert block numbers in the right place to modify the hierarchy. using ctrl arrows will only change the blocks number in the list, it will not make blocks a child of another. the reason why it gets reordered is just nifskopes auto sanitise, which you can turn off under file. Though it will make no difference where the alpha block is numbered in the block list, if it is not hooked up as a child of a nitrishape it will not do anything. Edited by Ghogiel

Hello :P . You seam to know what are you talking about  . Please if its not problem to write how to do that. In tutorials that is not explained.

Please. Thanks.

No need I've figure it out. Anyway thanks for tip. :woot:

For Wolfius:in "nitrishape" block details go to bottom and double click on last empty properties and write the number of yor alpha block. Pres enter.

it is linked up in the in second of the 2 properties slots of the Nitrishape> right under where the BSLightingShaderProperty is linked in. refer to a vanilla nif if you are unsure.

That.

See the properties field in the Nitrishape block details? you put block number you wish to be a child into the value field. specifically in this case it is the second of the 2 properties is where the NiAlphaProperty is linked in. the one right below where the BSLightingShaderProperty is linked in.

dozens of tutorials do cover hierarchical manipulation of blocks in nifskope. I would imagine nifskope alchemy actually covers this basic concept. there are many others in the CSwiki and the GECKwiki.

This may be common knowledge .... and might not. But If you are wanting the items to have a see through effect ( Semi Transparent ) in game then both the first person model and 3rd person model have to be set up the same and in the proper folders. Otherwise the ( Semi Transparent ) effect will not show in game.

I spent hours figuring this out.
