So I have heard great things about this mod and since Im running skyrim on a notebook and expected performance issues, (believe me, I wasnt dissapointed at all) I figured "Hey Ive tried ever other performance boosting .dll, Ill try this one." So I downloaded it, installed the app and the helper .dll in my folder and double clicked. Loading skyrim... "Sweet!" I thought. Access denied! "What why??" I screamed in a crowded DFAC. Did some research and found out that if read only is enabled on the TESV.exe then it will give you that message. So right click, properties, s*** the exe already has read only disabled. So my question after all this is..... WTF? are there .dlls that conflict with this mod?

I had the same problem up until just 5 seconds ago :) Tried everything you said (getting TESV.exe off of read-only and such)

What helped for me was right clicking the 4GB exe and choosing 'run as administrator'.

Hope it helps!

I tried that too. I just broke down and got a new laptop. (used but new to me) it is leaps and bounds over what I had as far as processor and ram. With this computer there are some things I can try. Firstly it didn't come with win 7 64 loaded, it came with x86. So all my ram isn't being recognized, because I have 32 bit. I'll try that first then see if it works then.

Soo hard to get this game working when I have to run to a starbucks everytime I need to download something. And let's face it loading skyrim on your computer, you'll certainly need to download something else to get it to run.

If it didnt come with win 7 64bit then more than likely it cant run it. Make sure you have a 64 bit processor first.

This laptop came from a pawnshop and it came with both versions of windows7 and it's an intel i3 quad core so it definitely should be able to run 64bit. I got the game to run pretty well on med with ultra decals and maxed object and ect fade except grass. But it's still just not as crisp as I'm wanting. For some reason the cd rom isn't reading the disc, even though device manager says it's working so I need to figure that out or get an external before I can put 64bit on.

The ONLY thing any of the various 4GB 3rd party patches do is allow the game to use more than 2 GB of RAM. They specifically change ONE bit in the TesV.exe file that allowed what is called LAA or Large Address Aware functionality. It is not a magic mod that fixes any crashes. The only crashes it can affect are those associated with running out of RAM. So if your game is crashing instantly, look elsewhere for a fix. If your game plays for a while then crashes after about the same time - it can be not enough RAM. It can also be overheating.

However, the entire 4GB fix thing is now moot as the LAA was patched in the last Bethesda patch. Trying to use a 4GB patch can now cause a crash as it is already installed. If the particular 4GB patch you use just changes the LAA bit (flips it) a 4GB patch may actually be disabling the built in LAA function. If the patch you use doesn't check to see if the bit is set first (most don't) it may just crash right there instead of later.

My advice - forget about using a 4GB enabler patch, remove any you already have. Allow the built in LAA/4GB patch to do what it is designed to do and look elsewhere for the cause of your crashes.

This was posted before 1.3.1 came out and after i got my new laptop. After 1.3.1 came out I installed and now the game runs a little better on my rig. The crashing problem was keeping the atimudpg.dll what ever its called.
