I like the Loathing games: Kingdom of Loathing, West of Loathing, and Shadows Over Loathing. They are simplistic yet whacky and hilarious.

If there could be only 1?   Bard's Tale.

First PC game I played that gave real life D&D a run for it's money.

Meh, could never replace the social interactions - but damn it could make me waste away an entire weekend when we didn't have a session.
