Low Framerate With a GTX 1080?

Here's some things to check:

Video card driver up to date

Other programs running in background. Use task manager and check out performance tab and see if memory and cpu usage seem normal. if cpu looks like a heart rate monitor of a humming bird go to the processes tab and sort by cpu time. (you'll have to go to view menu-->select columns and checkmark cpu time as it is not selected by default). U can also sort by cpu.

Use a load order sorter like LOOT or BOSS. I think LOOT might be the better one.

Get TES5Edit and clean the master files of ITMs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw3g_N1jcZQ. Video is called Skyrim Mod Tool TES5EDIT : Cleaning your master files (REVISED). either dawngaurd or dragonborn needs to be cleaned twice. I cant remember which, i think he says in the video. it wont hurt to clean an already cleaned file. it will just say something along the lines of "nothing to see here, move along".

Try starting a new game and see if you still have problems. Hope that helps. I want to upgrade my video card from a 1GB GTX 560 ti (go ahead and laugh) to a 8GB GTX 1070. You got me worried now but then again i'm not using any ENB's on account of my wuss level video card. the 1080 is a little bit out of my price range. Even with the 1070 i'll have to save up and maybe skip a rent payment.

I have a (thoroughly abused) 560 ti as well and I'm also considering a 1070 in the near future. I couldn't even play the game until I used spINI and now I get 30 fps with maxed out mods, enb and even some 2k texture replacers. I know you're looking for more, but considering I'm running an underclocked 560 with a busted fan and two broken case fans, 30fps for me is AMAZING. spINI made a huge difference.

I have a rig with similar specs and average 35-60 fps with an ENB and 255 mods including many texture mods. Occasionally I hit spots where it spikes down to 15-25 when there are tons of NPCs in a large exterior town setting - Whiterun outside the Bannered Mare, for example, but outside cities and in forests and dungeons it is rock solid at 59 ( i have limiter set to 60). So something is wonky... sorry can't be more help than that :-( I also run at 2560x1440

Win 7 pro and a gtx 1080 should allow you to have a beautiful and smooth/fluid Skyrim for sure.

You have a great rig and you should have very high fps......everywhere.

Might want to check these, I don't think they are compatible.

I had several compatibility problems with Immersive Sounds compedium, which is a sad thing since it's an awesome mod.

Hi

I am using a GTX 1080 sc at 3440 X 1440 resolution. I am averaging 60fps with ENB.

A few weeks ago my frame rate dropped into the 20s.

I tested my rig with the Shadow of Mordor bench test & it was fine.

I loaded a previous save & the frame rate was back to normal. Then I loaded the current save & the low frame rate was back.

I don't know what caused it but the save is trashed.

The only other time that I had low frame rate it was caused by a dirty CPU heat sink. No other game was effected by the slight rise in CPU temperature. Only Skyrim. After a cleaning my frame rate was back to normal.

This game is really strange.

DUUUUDE... wait, what? I forgot what I was talking about. Oh yeah. I was looking over your load order specifically looking for things that might eat up system ram (not vram). Since Skyrim is only 32-bit (for a few more weeks) it can only use 3.1 GB of system ram. Or at least that's what the internet says. I would guess music doesnt get loaded into vram. now that I see this post, you should defiantly try disabling them and load your save and see what happens. if that doesnt work, disable them and start a new game and see what happens.

Confucius says: "Frame rate problems? Must be an issue with sound." When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable is the answer. Forgot who said the second one.

I get 40-60 fps with 1GB 560ti on medium settings, no enb. bought the game on 11/12/11, my computer a matter of weeks before that and I has run like a champ. AMD FX 6100, 16 GB ram, some sort of graphics doohicky that you plug your monitor into, and a rectractable cup holder called a "dvd drive". Whenever I download a mod that has an option between 1k, 2k and 4k, I always do 2k. The only noticeable fps drops I've experienced (outside of normal, unmodded fps drops) are in dragonsreach and when I had Krystal (Starfox) as a follower. I have a mod that adds extra followers to dragonsreach. I'm guessing they all have 4k textures. I forgot where I was going with this.

You should replace your case fans ASAP!!!!!!! One broken gpu fan is not a good thing but if you have good enough airflow through your case, it just might live long enough for you to save enough money for a new gpu.

New video card: $75-$1000 (plus the time between the time your gpu dies and the time the new one arives).

2 new case fans: $18.39. These specificly https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F6S0XJO/ref=pd_sbs_147_28?ie=UTF8&refRID=PV9E5HVJ6KCEV21N776Y&th=1.

Heres a link to cooler master case fans on amazon ordered by price (theres cpu coolers that sneaked into my search): https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st_price-desc-rank?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A!493964%2Cn%3A541966%2Cn%3A193870011%2Cn%3A3012290011%2Cn%3A11036291%2Cp_89%3ACooler+Master&qid=1476264157&bbn=11036291&sort=price-desc-rank.

If you are running Skyrim at 30 fps, and there's not some wierd thing that's bringing your fps down, then your gpu is getting put to work.
