Writing your own books :)

Well Sun Tzu has been dead for quite a bit more than 100 years now and his copyright ran out about 2000 years ago. I think you'll be ok.

JRR tolken only died in 1973 which is why The Lord of the Rings is indeed protected. It isn't to say that they would demand you cease production and remove the mod but a rather large LOTR mod for Skyrim has already been blocked by the copyright owners.

there is already a master alchemy mod, which is a book that will help you remember the recipes.

no need to do the same work twice ;D

I'm inclined to disagree! Technically speaking, the game "keeps a journal" for you too- but that's not personal at all. I think it would be terrific to be able to keep my own journal of ingredient effects and combinations, in my own words, and with my own commentary, just as much as I'd like to do that with journaling my experiences and adventures!

Speaking of which- this would go brilliantly along side an as-yet-non-existant mod to create original custom map markers immersively, from in game.

"Found a splendid little fishing hole up on the ridge behind that bandit lair today. Must be careful not to rouse the bandits attention though. Also, mind the giant mudcrabs- they are sneaky and vicious!" *add marker that says ~Dangerous Fishing Hole~

Also fun would be the ability to keep notes and make custom markers INSTEAD of the in-game official ones:

"Deep ancient Nord Dungeon was the crypt of Hjerkum Jjerk. Learned a new Thu'um here that peels fruit with a shout!" or "Found a Forsworn camp up on the ridge, but my bag was weighed down with fish so I snuck past. Must remember to go sort them out before they make trouble for the village nearby."

For those of us who tend to explore more and follow proscribed quests less, this would be a marvel! (Not to mention how spectacularly it would fit in with Frostfall: Hypothermia for immersion!)

don't get me wrong FathomsDeep, i only pointed out that a recipe mod (not the game journalling mechanics) was already out there in response to LordSacasm's remark

It would useful for alchemy to remember those myriad of recipes, which is the main reason I don't use alchemy that heavily.

his question was about remembering recipes, thus a means to make your own book (with his own notes presumably) for recipes.

sorry if that was a bit unclear.

keeping personal notes (be it about recipes, spells, adventures and pitfalls your encountered and al the like), and as you suggest, custom map markers, would add greatly to the personal journey and immersion of any player wanting to record her/his adventures and thoughts in the game. sharing these would be even greater ;)

it's been a time since i checked this forum out, but is there a possible mod out yet?

ahhh- I see what you mean now. Thanks for clarifying. And nope- not as far as I know. (And I'm told by some that the game mechanics make the idea of player-customized in-game markers is at least nearly an impossibility. But then, impossible really only means no one has figured out how to do it *yet* right? ;D

Is anyone actually working on this kinda thing anymore? All I've seen are either wonky, out of game editing software-type things or broken, in-game, barely usable, 200 character page things. If anyone can find a way to implement this, you'd be a legend on the nexus.

they have a brewery mod for skyrim, plus a quest to go with it, why not a book writing mod, with a quest or two, a quest of competition, would also make it well and interesting.

May I request a way to copy text on the internet then past it into a blank book on Elder Scrolls & import PDF's into the game's so I can read any information in game play? How about a Doctor, a Scientist, a Chemist, a alchemist, a teacher a preacher, & a stand up Comedian whom can be programmed to say anything I want using a computer text to speech voice program
