So ive been blocked for making a petition

So we're supposed to sign a petition which basically says 'Bethesda is terrible, stop playing Skyrim, and don't play any [free] mods, and don't buy any Skyrim DLC' and this is supposed to hurt Bethesda more than us? That sounds like kicking myself in the face for no reason. A couple hundred people won't even warrant a glance from Bethesda, and there's no way that you'll get more people with a petition like that.

Not only that, but way too many people pirated Oblivion, and it wasn't nearly as popular as Skyrim. What did you expect? That a company could use literally no security systems and hope to survive? Besides, if you're such an ardent supporter of this site, why am I higher ranked than you, and why are you not a premium? I joined all of a month ago.

What? They sold over 1.7million copies by April 2006...and its still selling now. I bought it on release. There are also those pirates that actually buy the games they download, after seeing they are worth the money spent. I just know all Bethesda games are worth it from experience :)

But yes, this thread is annoying. As was the petition. If you want change, make it happen, don't whinge and whine about it. That never solves anything.

Just because im a supporter of this site does not mean I have to fund it and pay to become a member, maybe I dont have the money to go to every website I support and pay for it, its an invalid argument did you think of that?.

I dont agree with some things other countries do, doesnt mean I automtically start funding terrorists

People may as well stop replying to this know its dead, Myself I wont be buying any future bethesda games, DLC or paying for any mods

Hard to read with that formatting but I agree...

Why bother putting security software on the game...when the pirates crack it so quickly? It's just pointless and only hinders we PAYING customers. I should be able to play my game without internet connection 24/7. Most ridiculous s*** of the 21st century.

So my post about making a petition against bethesda has been locked and ive been banned from contacting the moderators and the owner of this site to ask why.

Makes me wonder if bethesda had anything to do with this by seeing the post here:

http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/487043-petition-to-bethesda-to-sort-out-skyrim/

This might be off topic here, lock this, do what you wish to it.

All this is going to do is make this petition stronger and now will definanly be going ahead.

For all those wishing to follow it, keep an eye on these forums, Ill be setting up the website soon.

They think they can stop this before its begun, there was nothing wrong / illegal or rule breaking about my petition so the only reason left is that they dont want it to go ahead.

Its funny how ive been a loyal member of this site for a long time, but the moment people start to make a stand against something I get crushed.

About the same thing with me on WoW Telling 100% truth how to fix everyone's issue " gem's, enchants, guides, rotations, and much more " but nope 10mins after post ban and got ban for 2 days for just telling the truth...

but fail to see the truth and there users too, because it might be the end of many users. Then they have already lost hundreds of people ^. When a rebellion starts forming the law is always standing by to make to stop.

Its not bad when its small and just like the other post but once something goes overboard its locked. starting a web page over this is, taking it way to far.

" but the moment people start to make a stand against something I get crushed. " because you are the leader of a rebellion in the making. Think of it as if you where doing a job, you are just a member-job newcomer in a way. but then try and stand up to make changes in the company. Admin's-job supervisors or managers would stop you before it gets out of control.

The only way you could pull something like this off is if you are a high ranking worker that they respect and/or a respected admin.

Not for it and against it. my opinion/thoughts on the subject.

No matter how poorly presented this argument is, the weight of this subject should be understood.

The important thing is that this move could be setting a standard for future games to come. Steam is being integrated into the creation kit. I dont know weather they will start charging for mods for this particular game, it doesnt matter to me at this point. However, i am certain that if this catches on companies of future games supported by mods will. There is no other direction left to go once a company, whose main goal is making money, takes control of a modding community.

I kinda like the idea of modders making money from there mods. However, and a big HOWEVER, i dont like the idea of the modder receiving just a small percentage of it, they should get 95%-100% not giving most of it to a company that did none of the work. The other big downside is once this catches on, you will hardly find a mod for free and a community that was once based around creating and sharing will be based around little more than making money. I am reminded of The Sims, i used to love downloading mods for that game back in the day. Until a few websites started charging for mods and then it caught on like wild fire, you could hardly find a good mod without paying. But there was many sights to choose from, This may be a somewhat worse situation since it may likely be one company to choose from. If they decided to add copyright to the license saying that mods on steam are not allowed to be uploaded to any other sites and even worse if they said mods are only allowed to be uploaded to steam... well just imagine. Nexus's future would be gone. And with this new SOPA BILL and others like it, you could be facing criminal charges for trying to download a mod elsewhere. Side effects of money and greed already effect the quality of news and information you can obtain, i dont also want it effecting the thing i use to escape that annoyance.

For those of you that think im exaggerating and these things could never happen, you severely underestimate the power and influence of money and companies and how when each person within a company or organization is trying to what good for it, causes it to take on a life of its own, having extremely negative effects without a conscious effort ever existing. Once standards are set they are near impossible to unset. And really i can see no other outcome for this, for company whose goal is profit, given enough time. they will not take a step backwards. At very best it will stay the way it is, mods will be free to share and free to download. its hard to imagine it staying that way over time tho.

I love Nexus! I find it so greatly inspiring that a site could bring together so many people to produce such an amazing amount mods out of the love for the games and the community. i would hate to see it tainted by a company that would like nothing better than to nickel and dime all your mods along with moderating everything they dont approve of. i fully support thelonewarriors attempts for the sake of Nexus and the community. i would advise anyone else who finds this site or the community the least bit valuable to do the same.

Bottom line is this is a step in a bad direction, how can anything good come of it that nexus does not already have to offer?

hopefully i explained this enough.

For those who don't want updates to their steam games, you can disable automatic update download.

Also, just remember that anything you create with the Creation Set belongs to Bethesda. It's in the EULA. So if they want to start selling your mod they can. I don't think they will because it would damage the mod community that is a great incubator for ideas for the next game, but keep that in mind.

Well said. Zenimax & Bethesda are interested in making money... That is their primary goal and the sole reason why they exist. Creating video games is only a means to that end. If they see that there is a large enough market willing to pay for something pertaining to their market they will capitalize.

The programmers, artists, writers and all the people who put their hands into Skyrim or any video game have very little, if any involvement at all in matters of marketing and money. These are the good guys... if they didn't need a pay check they could have sat in a room for a couple of years and made Skyrim themselves.

Zenimax, Bethesda and Valve would all love to reach into our pockets and get some more of our money... If they offer modders a 50% or even 25% profit on DLC sales then that would kill the modding community. If they were to legally restrict modders from distributing mods without using steamworks then people would simply resort to pirating.

I am a business owner, and I've learned through life and courses that people resort to theft either out of need or out of revenge. If an employer treats their employees unfairly it will result in the employee treating the employer unfairly. If a government can be toppled by disgruntled people then why not a business?

The problem though, is that the majority of the populace is made up of "sheep" who do what they are told without question. It is their character and mental capacity.
