Wolfshagger
Hello there, first time using the forums. Since fallout 4's release I have been searching all over the internet for performance tweaks. Like many Bethesda titles they require tweaking, and as such have tried multiple counter-measures. 1# Biggest Issue TLDR USING SHADOWBOOST AWFUL PERFORMANCE IN CITIES PC Specs:GTX 1080 FEi7 3930k 4.6 stableAsus x79ws mobo32gb ddr3 kingston hyper x running at 1600mhz Things I have tried to increase fps stability. 1.Setting cpu priority on fallout 4 2.Tweaking my ini files I have done quite as bit so it would be helpful if someone with knowledge from previous titles takes a look at them. 3. Checked my mod list for any conflicts I am getting so frustrated with with this and its only with fallout 4. Will keep monitoring this thread and will upload any necessary files as I cant upload ini for some reason http://imgur.com/a/EX9cw Screens of some artifacting also and regular gameplay screen 1440p
JimmyRJump
Try running the game without overclocked CPU. For some reason, FO4 doesn't like overclocked stuff. Have a look at Hein84's Vivid mods. They retexture most of FO4's environment with smaller but much better looking files, taking away a lot of the random V-RAM spikes that occur frequently (going over 10GB of V-RAM use -when using ENBoost- is no exception). If and when you are using added settlement mods and/or scrap mods, also have a look at FortuneQuacker's No More Disappearing Act which handles LOD-flicker thanks to preculling (happens when the game tries to render stuff that normally can't be scrapped but which meanwhile has vanished; doesn't seem to apply in your case though, but hey, one never knows). Wolfshagger
What about disabling hyperthreading and using only game dedicated cores?
JimmyRJump
What about disabling hyperthreading and using only game dedicated cores? You might try that. But do it in the ini file. I'm using an i7 3770k and the .ini is set to use all 4 cores, although some people in the know advise to set that to just 2 cores as it seems that FO4 uses (or used) only two cores anyway... but I have no problems at all. I must add that I used to CTD all the time in and around central Boston, the Swan Park area and Cambridge. That had everything to do with V-RAM spikes when the game loads the environment (as a side-note, that only started to happen after v1.3 or 1.4 when Bethesda reverted to a streaming load as opposed to a direct rendering; with the intention to shorten load times). I was using ENBoost set to 12288MB, having 4x4GB of RAM and a 3GB GPU (ATI MSI R7970 Lightning). I since bought an AMD MSI RX470 GamingX 8GB GPU and haven't had any issues at all since then regarding spontaneous CTD in denser areas, despite the fact that in sheer power, the five year older R7970 isn't any weaker than the new RX470: it's the V-RAM that does it... Jimmy, do you have any problems around the Monsignor Plaza area? I used to, depending from which direction I came. But like with most other "risk" areas, with the 8GB GPU, I no longer have any issues there, not even a hint of a stutter...
