RedRocketTM
I don't know how it looks like in other networks, but the hotfile section of Skyrim Nexus is full of follower mods, follower mods, and even more follower mods, 99 percent of them being female (thus having breasts :P).It really makes the hotfiles section look like it's all about that in Skyrim and blocks really great mods like Aevon Tor or Clockwork and stuff from being seen on there. To make it clear: No offense, if people think that these mods are worthy to download, it's their choice. But, it feels utterly unfair, that mods that only take a few minute to put togehter are highlighted there, as if they were gems, while complex mods that take hours, even days or longer to create disappear into oblivion because they do not contain breasts. Personally, I don't want to see all the Follower mods on the hot files (unless they're handsome looking guys, which Skyrim really lacks :P), but I'd rather want to see mods there, that I'd certainly miss, because I don't feel like browsing 3000 entires for housemods, or an similar crazy amount for texture overhauls etc. So, can we have a filter in our personal options please, to specify what we would like to be shown in the hotfiles section? Like playerhomes, texture mods, mounts, followers male, followers female, new worldspaces and so on? So that we can disable the stuff we don't like? That would give mods that would otherwise disappear because of all the followerstuff a chance. I mean it shouldn't be impossible to count personal hotfiles while excluding some, no? Anyway... I hope you get what I'm trying to say.
DoctorKaizeld
Turn off adult content. It will cut that stuff in half. And to summarize the answer (as this keeps being asked for the issue of people not liking boobs) No, this will not happen. Odds are a site staff member might hop in and explain why beyond just changing your existing filters. I dont speak for them so i wont go into any fancy details beyond that. CyborgWolf
I understand your point however at this time, nearly 5 years on from the launch of Skyrim the major modding is pretty much dead and has been done, with only really the follower and other mods being created now - followers being the mod that now almost any old Joe can make because of the multitude of tutorials out there. And also the fact that to be featured in the hotfiles nowadays you only really need to get 60 endorsements or so ... back in the prime I recall it being more like 200 endorsements to be featured on the 6th spot. Fact is, not many people are playing Skyrim or using the Nexus as there used to be. So hence why there are lots of the same mods being featured. Sure there will be the odd mod that fulfils a different role like an overhaul or something, but in reality, there's not a lot left to do.That's just my 2 cents on this topic. Lisnpuppy
Turning off adult content and using the tag system to block more specific things is also useful. You can also block mod authors if they make content you don't like. The system isn't perfect but you can switch blocking on and off very easy so if you are looking for something you can do so at your choosing. The hot files are..well..hot because people like them. If you don't you will have to block content on the site. We have all discussed for years a way to get more of the less known mods some love and have not found any good and accepted answers. I would suggest when you do find one make sure you endorse mods you like. Vote for the as mod of the month if you so choose. Remember also to look at the top 100 for each category (your filter will still work here I assume) and you can even search the most endorsed in like the past 59 days or simply got to the advanced search to find more thing to your liking. Unfortunately the tag system to allow up to block or find content is a I understand, as resource hog. To make each member be able to filter like you wish would really be problematic. Having the filter blocks and adult content block we have now when properly used, will get you most of the results you desire. Good luck!
RedRocketTM
Dead... tzk... The real fun onl begins years after publishing an Elderscrolls game. :DAnyway... Most of the followers do not count as adult content, and it's not that I want to block adult content. Other than that, the filter is quite unreliable anyway. It blocks stuff it shouldn't actually block, and while searching some mods that are not currently on my download or track list I always have to switch filter settings like crazy for it to show up eventually. >.< Within the last few days I was thinking about the same thing, how could one make underrated mods more intresting or present to the public? First, I was thinking about somethng like a 'hall of shame'. Although the name sounds rather insulting, it might attract people. Just to see what's in there. That category could feature mods with low endorsements compared to their total downloads. (There are quite a few gems out there where it is a shame that nobody really notices them) Then I had a few more ideas, but they'd probably be really hard to do. Lisnpuppy
The filter system (and there is a companion tag but it will take them ALL out obviously) is only as good as the tagging. Some authors don't tag, some let the community help tag, some don't some tag things that maybe should not be (and sometimes this is a language issue not a trolling issue.) I encourage you to come up with ideas. I have discussed a few of my own, the one I have always liked best being the ability for members (maybe after a post count or something) be able to have a page perhaps in their member page, with mods they enjoy and a link to them. Then, if they wished, could use the siggy option to link back to that page so others could see them. So if you like a mod author's mods and they have a link to a page of mods they use or like or whatever...profit! It also allows the community to share and not just some endorsement number or having the staff to cherry pick mods, or some "group" to do so. vlainstrike
Follower mods should have their own separate hotfiles section, right below the 'main' hotfiles. In other words, two complete rows of hotfiles: bottom row should be EXCLUSIVELY follower mods, while the top row would feature everything else EXCEPT follower mods. Failing that, there should be a separate set of filters for hotfiles vs. the rest of your profile.Personally, I'm not in any way offended by skimpy/sexy follower content, which means I don't mind seeing that stuff if I go looking for it. The problem (obviously) is that they tend to drown out everything else. Edited September 28, 2016 by vlainstrike
DoctorKaizeld
That defeats the purpose of the hot file system though. Just scroll through the newest files instead. Also that would require people properly labeled their mods... Which they dont.
vlainstrike
That defeats the purpose of the hot file system though. Not really. It would rescue the purpose of the hotfiles. Also that would require people properly labeled their mods... Which they dont. Wouldn't want to overwork the moderation team. :ohdear: Edited September 28, 2016 by vlainstrike

A lot of us don't want to block all adult content; we just don't want to open the homepage and be bombarded by SLOOTY GIANT TITS!! A no adult content in hotfiles filter would be a godsend.
