A couple of Problems

Hi, hopefully someone will let me know what I have to do to fix a couple of problems I have.

1) I first installed "scrap everything" and as usual I scrapped a few biggish items at some of my settlements eg. small houses/cabins etc and then built new ones, I then at some stage deleted a few mods (no idea which ones) I then found that the original buildings had reappeared inside of the new ones I built later, I posted this problem on Bethesda forum and someone mentioned I may have to download another scrap mod which I did called "scrap it all away".

I want to get rid of scrap it all away, because it stops me moving items around (instead of green they are yellow) so I uninstalled it but the previous problem has come back so I have reinstalled it and everything is back to normal but I still can't move objects around like the workbench, even new beds as soon as I create them they instantly go yellow signifying that they are to be scrapped, can anyone tell me what I need to do to either stop the original buildings reappearing if I uninstall "scrap it all away" or is there a console command that will allow me to move items around.

2) I have tried numerous times now to start a new game but it will not let me it just goes to a black screen with the green symbol in the bottom right moving as if it is thinking but nothing happens, how do I start a new game as I have only done one playthrough.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

  • 2 weeks later...

I posted the above questions in September and to date I have not had any replies is this because I am asking the wrong question or am I in the wrong forum, it would be nice if I can get some response either to the questions or at least point out where I am going wrong here.

Removing scrapping mods almost always bring back what you scraped. There is nothing you can do about it.

I do not know anything about scrap it all away, as I sue Scrap Everything, and have never had the issue you have with not being able to move anything.

After looking at the few comments, I saw a post about the not being able to move objects, and no clue if it has been fixed.

If you still want to remove objects that can't be normally. I would go back to using Scrap Everything.

Scrap Everything works best at the bottom of the load order. If it is higher, and you add, remove mods then it can mess up.

The main workbench can not be moved unless you have a mod that lets you do so.

Your last issue, I can't really be much help on.

Try starting with no mods, and see if it loads. If it does then one of the mods is the issue.

Thanks bill8872, in regard to the scrapping mod that's fair enough in my case by using the second one that for some reason stops items scrapped by "scrap everything" coming back.

As far as the second question is concerned I have tried to see online and through youtube how to remove mods from Mod Organizer without damaging the vanilla side of Fallout 4 but I can only get references to NMM and/or Skyrim, would you know of any information I could use and follow so I can start to remove mods to see which one is causing the issue.

It appears, with your current experience level, and MO's current state, you would be better served using NMM.

Also, your thread title is too vague and you should consider providing your load order in spoiler tags.

I do not use MO myself. I have looked at it, and found it to be a bit complicated to use.

Plus, and accepting all the problems with NMM, I been using it to long to change.

The references you are finding for Skyrim will work for FO4. Both games are so close in function, that what works for Skyrim will 90% of the time work for FO4.

I do not think it really matters much which mod organizer you use. Any time you add a mod you do mess with the vanilla side of the game. The risk you really take with them is removing them during a play through.

So while trying to figure out which mod is hanging up, just disable all of them instead of uninstalling.

Then start the game up. If it works, then go through each mod one at a time until the hangup come back.

and yes your mod list would help a lot.

Thanks mac2636 and bill8872 appreciate the words of advice, I will next time put in a more detailed thread title also how do I post my load order to this discussion---bill8872 I did originally try to download NMM but for over a month I could not download it it kept telling me they were having some technical difficulties and I had to download mods manually which I did for a while until I found Mod Organizer so I started to use that, have not tried to download NMM recently so I don't know if I will still get the same problem.

Can you advise me on how I go about disabling mods instead of deleting them as every time I look up how to disable mods, i find all about deleting them but not how to disable, so if either yourself or mac2636 can let me know how I capture and post my load log to you, then I will most certainly do that as well as advising me on disabling mods, appreciate all the help so far.

To disable a mod in Mod Organizer without deleting it you just uncheck the checkmark next to it. I'm not at home to double check the name, but it's the first tab on the right side. That's also the same tab where you manually sort your load order (sorting in the left hand pane does nothing really). Make sure that Scrap Everything stays at the bottom of your load order list despite what LOOT tells you to do with it. Things you scrap with that mod will often reappear if the mod isn't at the bottom of the list. Just moving it back down makes things you scrapped disappear again.
