Nexus servers down cause a lot of problems

When Nexus went down a little while ago and was finally restored it caused an interesting problem for me and I wonder if anyone else had the issue.

Once Nexus was back up I went into Fallout4 and started to play but, to my surprise, none of my mods in NMM apparently no longer worked. After some investigation I determined that when Nexus server went down it obliterated the 'links' to NMM and subsequently to the mods contained therein. A check of NMM showed that all the mods still had the green check marks but none of the mods were showing up in the game. Each time I tried to get back in I would get a long list of mods that were not working. So I went into NMM only to see that all the mods had green check marks which would indicate that all were loaded. Not so. I tried to experiment and disable a couple of mods and then restore them. That worked after a couple of tries (I don't remember quite what I did). The problem then was that I had to go into NMM and enable all of the mods again. Then they worked. I think the problem is that the location markers for each mod resides on Nexus servers and when the servers went down it lost the markers.

That is what I surmise. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience? And any ideas as to what went wrong?

Thanks.

What you're describing is impossible. When using NMM to install mods, the files are physically transferred to your computer and installed from your PC. So, even when the Nexus' servers were obliterated by a nuclear attack -if you don't live close to the lot- you'd still be able to play your game with mods included.

Opening NMM doesn't make it connect to the Nexus servers, hence the "you are not logged in" message bottom left in NMM. You only make a connection to the servers with NMM when downloading a mod through the NMM link on a mod page, or when updating mods or fishing for missing mods I.D.

Haven't got a clue what you did that your mods somehow no longer worked, but it has absolutely naught to do with servers being off-line...

I understand what you are saying but there is something that isn't right, if that is the word. Under NMM if I look at all my mods I find the green check marks next to each mod that I have installed yet when I go into the game now many mods still do not work. Going out of the game, checking on the green check mark to turn it off then click and turn it back on makes that mod now work in game. It appears to me, anyway, that each mod is linked to Nexus. When your servers were down I had none of the mods in NMM working. Now, on an individual when I do the uncheck/check as stated above, then that particular mod now works again.

Yes the Mod's themselves are here but they somehow link/verify with your server to initiate. As near as I can tell. It was, or so it seemed to me, the cause of the mods not working because they could not 'verify' with Nexus.

I hope I am not being a pest as I am just trying to figure out the problem. Thanks for listening. It is appreciated.

The way mods are linked to nexus is by mod ID only. When you're logged into Nexus, and assuming it is correct, it gives you an quick reference as to the version of the mod, and if it has an update, without have to check the site every day.

The reason your mods stop working is with your games settings. From what you described the plugin file, is being changed every time you play. It is disabling mods, but NMM is not.

I am not at home so I can not tell you where it is located.

It might also be the custom.ini file is not configured correctly to enable mods, but since some do still work, I kinda doubt this one.
