CTD in Jamaica Plains when building/scrapping

Hi

Suddenly having an issue in Jamaica Plain where if I scrap things, it crashes. I am trying to narrow down if it is on a certain item or type of item but seems somewhat random.

I do have a lot of mods installed and I will eventually have to go through and see if one of them is causing it. But as far as I can see, it is only happening in Jamaica Plain.

Is there a way I can reset a settlement to its vanilla state and build it again?

Any advice welcomed.

FYI: Don't know/think it would be relevant but Jamaica Plain is the location that was chosen to be Mercer Safehouse.

The only way to get a game back to vanilla state is start a new one from a fresh, unmodded install. Most folk think that, when a mod causes trouble, simply uninstalling the culprit and going back to an earlier save solves the problem. It does, but only temporarily so. The crashes you experience right now can be caused by something you added and deleted again days ago. Changes to the game are often baked into a save, no matter if you uninstall and go to a save prior to adding a mod...

Wonderful. So essentially the best thing to do is just avoid that settlement?

I take it using something like Cell Ripper, which claims it can reset settlement cells, would be no use?

While it does claim to do that, in the bugs section there are people claiming that doing this causes a similar problem to what I am actually experiencing now.

What an arse!

I have never used cell ripper. My understanding is it can restore items you scrap.

It would not help finding the CTD issue. For that reload an earlier save. Keep scraping the item, and checking which mod it responsible for the CDT, but as Jimmy said, if it is due to a mod you deleted, then it may not help you at all.

Updating mods during a playthrough should not be a problem, as I do it all the time.

It is only when you delete a mod during a playthrough that can cause the issue you're having.

As a side note. If you do not intend to side the the Railroad, then Mercer Safehouse is not required. Or just clear it out, build the settlement becan, and don't scrap anything.
